Record 2 2018-01-29

English

Subject field(s)
  • Weather Stations and Meteorological Instruments and Equipment
DEF

An hygrometer in which goldbeater skin(the prepared outside membrane of the large intestine of the ox) is used as the sensitive element.

CONT

Hygrometer. Any of several instruments used for measuring atmospheric humidity. ... Hair hygrometer measures the expansion and contraction of a human hair that is mounted under tension. A gold beater’s skin hygrometer uses a proteinaceous membrane for the same type of measurement.

Key term(s)
  • gold-beater-skin hygrometer

French

Domaine(s)
  • Stations, instruments et équipements météorologiques
DEF

Record 3 2010-07-21

English

Subject field(s)
  • Ultrasonography
CONT

The ultrasonic sender/receiver is a 13-mm crystalline element which is mounted in a small, self-contained water bath. The water bath is housed in a thin but durable membrane.

French

Domaine(s)
  • Ultrasonographie
CONT

Record 4 1999-10-22

English

Subject field(s)
  • Biochemistry
CONT

Possible mechanisms for the interaction between native and split Cp components and the MFGM might include surface binding by physicochemical forces. This could involve either non-covalent hydrostatic interactions between polycationic proteins, such as C3a and C5a(15), or highly amphiphilic proteins such as C3b and terminal complement complexes-C5b-9(TCC), or through the attachment to specific receptors, such as C3R or C5aR. C3 fragments have the ability to bind to membrane surfaces in the vicinity of ongoing element activation, and thereby promote opsonization of particulate antigens and the generation of further C3/C5 convertase enzymes(17). While polycationic molecules like C5a, could have bound more avidly to one of the glycoprotein components of the MFGM, C3 fragments might have been bound to the lipid fraction of the membranes.

French

Domaine(s)
  • Biochimie
CONT

OBS

Essais cliniques en thérapie génique.
