An electrically conducting or semi-conducting nanofibre. 6, record 4, English, - nanowire
Record number: 4, Textual support number: 1 CONT
Two processes in nanotechnology by which nanowires can be manufactured are suspension and deposition. A suspended nanowire is held up by the ends in an evacuated chamber, and then is chemically etched or bombarded with high-speed atoms or molecules to reduce its diameter. Another method involves indenting the surface of a wire in the center of a suspended span, raising the temperature, and then stretching the wire while it is near its melting point. A deposited nanowire is fabricated on a surface consisting of some non-conducting substance such as plastic or glass. The process is similar to that by which semiconductor chips are grown, except that the result is a linear (one-dimensional) structure rather than a flat (two-dimensional) or solid (three-dimensional) structure. 7, record 4, English, - nanowire
Record number: 4, Textual support number: 2 CONT
A nanometer-scale wire [is] made of metal atoms, silicon, or other materials that conduct electricity. Nanowires are built atom by atom on a solid surface, often as part of a microfluidic device. They can be coated with molecules such as antibodies that will bind to proteins and other substances of interest to researchers and clinicians. By the very nature of their nanoscale size, nanowires are incredibly sensitive to such binding events and respond by altering the electrical current flowing through them, and thus can form the basis of ultra sensitive molecular detectors. 2, record 4, English, - nanowire

Chelation(from Greek, chelè, meaning claw) is the process of reversible binding(complexation) of a ligand-the chelant, chelator, chelating agent, sequestering agent, or complexing agent-to a metal ion, forming a metal complex, the chelate. The term is generally reserved for complexes in which the metal ion is bound to two or more atoms of the chelating agent, although the bonds may be any combination of coordination or ionic bonds. 4, record 11, English, - demineralising%20agent

Further experiments showed that by adding a demineralising agent (EDTA) to the soil, plants could accumulate a larger quantity of metals. Testing also demonstrated that the demineralising agent facilitated the migration of metals towards the top of the plant (stems and leaves). 1, record 11, English, - demineralising%20agent

The most important mordants are trivalent chromium complexes, metallic hydroxides, tannic acid, etc. Mordants are used with acid dyes, basic dyes, direct dyes, and sulfur dyes. Premetallized dyes contain chromium in the dye molecule. A mordant dye is a dye requiring use of a mordant to be effective. 3, record 15, English, - mordant%20dye
