Checkered plate, also known as chequer plate or tread plate, is a type of metal sheet with a regular pattern of raised diamonds/rhombus or raised lines on one side, with the opposite side being blank and flat. The texture on the checker metal sheet provides traction on the surface, which makes it ideal for no-slip walkways, ramps and stairs.

It is most extensively applied of all the forming methods for aluminum and involves the widest variety of techniques. The starting form for virtually all drawing operations is a blank.

A term used in reference to a method of producing metal tubes(usually in iron or steel or certain non-ferrous metals) from a hot billet. The billet is guided between a pair of rolls that are bevelled and inclined at a small angle to one another. This ensures that the billet is gripped and spun at high speed as it is forced over a tapered plug. This latter opens up the hole in the billet. The rough pierced blank is plug rolled to improve the shape of the tube.
