Azides are a group of both organic and inorganic compounds containing the N3 functional group. In general, azides are reactive and toxic. In fact, inorganic azides are commonly used as preservatives in biological solutions because of the ability of the N3 group to bind tightly to cytochromes and block electron transport and ATP synthesis. All of the heavy metal azides and most, if not all, of the light metal azides are explosive under the right conditions. The basic idea of the process was to use rubber to form thin-gage aluminum, shallow flanged an ribbed parts on single die tools. 2, record 14, English, - Guerin%20process

Until the development of modern construction, the stone was usually at a corner, possibly as the first of the foundation stones, and it was a real support. With a computer and a laser printer anyone can be a publisher. Now, with only slightly more sophisticated technology, they can be a manufacturer too. The process of 3-D printing, invented at MIT by Emanuel Sachs and Michael Cima, can pass from computer-aided design straight to manufacture(though more conventional machine tools can also do this if a part is merely to be cut from a block of metal). And it can cope with parts that have complicated geometries, with cavities and cooling channels-difficult trick to manage with traditional manufacturing techniques. 1, record 21, English, - desktop%20manufacturing

In a single-crystal blade casting the first element to solidify is a "starter block" attached to the root of the [turbine] blade by a narrow helical passage in the mould. The helical passage obstructs the growth of multiple crystal boundaries, with the result that the blade is formed from a single crystal. This crystal propagates in two halves around the strong-back. The two halves of the blade can then be joined by a process called "transient liquid phase" bonding, in which the halves are mated around a foil "gasket" of the same alloy as the blade--coated with boron to reduce its melting point--and joined under pressure. The gasket and the thin layer of metal immediately adjacent to it melt, the boron dissipates completely and the part solidifies while still under pressure. As far as can be ascertained, the join produced by this means in a single-crystal blade is effectively perfect. 1, record 31, English, - gasket

1, record 31, French, - feuillage%20d%27alliage

In a single-crystal blade casting, the first element to solidify is a "starter block" attached to the root of the [turbine] blade by a narrow helical passage in the mould. 1, record 32, English, - single%2Dcrystal%20blade%20casting
