In many construction projects, standard and long-span metal joists have recently replaced wood and fire-resistant construction due to their strength and fire resistance. Steel joists are not fabricated by a traditional steel fabricator; instead they are manufactured by a supplier specializing in the production and design of steel joists. Steel joists are generally used for floor and roof construction. 2, record 1, English, - steel%20joist

... a major container failure, into two or more pieces, at a moment in time when the contained liquid is at a temperature well above its boiling point at normal atmospheric pressure. A typical example is that of a propane tank engulfed in a fire.... When the metal fails, the liquid is exposed to atmospheric pressure and is well above its boiling point. Under certain conditions this results in a violent explosion. Once containment is lost, the liquid inside the tank boils, since it is no longer under pressure, and gives the first two letters of the phenomenon-Boiling Liquid. As the liquid boils, vapour is formed. The specific volume of the vapour is much larger than that of the liquid, so there is expansion-Expanding Vapour. There is an Explosion because there is a shock wave and the container is torn apart. 1, record 6, English, - boiling%20liquid%20expanding%20vapour%20explosion

BLEVE. [...]

3, record 16, French, - %C3%A9preuve%20du%20feu

A pneumatic rate-of-rise spot detector consists of a small dome-shaped air chamber with a flexible metal diaphragm in the base. A small metering hole allows air to enter and exit the chamber during normal rise and fall of atmospheric temperature and barometric pressure. In the heat of a fire, however, the air within the chamber expands faster than it can escape through the metering hole. This expansion causes the pressure within the chamber to increase, forcing the metal diaphragm against contact points in the alarm circuit. An alarm signal to the system control unit results. This type of detector is most often combined in one unit that also has fixed-temperature capability. 1, record 22, English, - pneumatic%20rate%2Dof%2Drise%20spot%20detector

1, record 22, French, - d%C3%A9tecteur%20ponctuel%20thermov%C3%A9locim%C3%A9trique%20pneumatique

Forced Air Wood Furnaces. Central wood-burning furnaces are controlled by a wall mounted thermostat in the living area. Temperature and fan controls are the same as those found on oil and gas furnaces. Unlike room heaters, which produce a steady heat output by periodic manual adjustments of the draft control, most wood furnaces operate in cycles. A cycle starts with the thermostat sensing that heat is needed in the room where it is located. It signals the furnace control system which opens the combustion air damper and a hot fire develops. When the air inside the furnace's sheet metal casing gets hot, a preset fan control starts the circulating blower and the warm air is moved through the ducts to all areas of the house. 1, record 35, English, - forced%20air%20wood%20furnace
