Enzymes immobilized on inorganic supports by covalent attachment show unique pH optimums, thermal profiles and kinetics. Organic functional groups are covalently attached to the support using a silane coupling agent.... The most common silane coupling agent used is [gamma]-aminopropyltriethoxy-silane. Silanes such as this react with any available oxide or hydroxide groups on the surface of glass, ceramics or metal oxides.... Once an alkylamine group has been attached to the inorganic support it takes only standard organic coupling reactions to covalently bond the protein of interest. 2, record 2, English, - silane%20coupling%20agent

The salts of hydrochloric acid, known as chlorides, can, in most cases, be prepared by dissolving either the metal, its hydroxide, oxide, or carbonate in the acid; or by heating the metal in a current of chlorine, or by precipitation. The majority of the metallic chlorides are solids(stannic chloride, titanic chloride and antimony pentachloride are liquids) which readily volatilize on heating. Many are readily soluble in water, the chief exceptions being silver, chloride, mercurous chloride, cuprous chloride and palladious chloride which are insoluble in water, and thallous chloride and lead chloride which are only slightly soluble in cold water, but are readily soluble in hot water. 3, record 4, English, - metallic%20chloride

Chlorine induced corrosion is the most important corrosion process in power plants, firing waste, coal and/or biomass. Depending on the process, chlorine is present as HCl gas, as solid KCl and NaCl in ashes or as eutectic melts i.e. KCl-ZnCl2 in deposits of waste fired boilers. In the presence of HCl gas and solid chlorides, "active oxidation" is generally accepted as the major corrosion mechanism. Metal chlorides are formed by inward diffusion of chlorine to the metal/oxide interface, evaporating and subsequently oxidized to non-protective oxides and additional chlorine. 4, record 4, English, - metallic%20chloride

Sodium is the sixth most abundant element on earth, comprising about 2. 6% of the earth's crust; it is the most abundant of the alkali group of metals of which it is a member.... Sodium is a soft, bright, silvery metal which floats on water, decomposing it with the evolution of hydrogen and the formation of the hydroxide.... Metallic sodium is vital in the manufacture of sodamide and esters, and in the preparation of organic compounds. The metal may be used to improve the structure of certain alloys, to descale metal, to purify molten metals, and as a heat transfer agent.... Seventeen isotopes of sodium are recognized. Metallic sodium is, [on] a volume basis, the cheapest of all metals. Sodium metal should be handled with great care. 4, record 5, English, - metallic%20sodium

... Argonne’s technology can successfully prepare for disposal some 60 tons of "sodium-bonded" fuel stored at the Idaho National Engineering and Environmental Laboratory (INEEL).
