In 2011, AAFC [Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada]-STB [Science and Technology Branch of the National Agroclimate Information Service] built an in-situ sensor network where soil moisture and meteorological data are collected in agricultural landscapes within Ontario, Manitoba and Saskatchewan over a total of 18 stations. To meet the objectives of various research projects, the RISMA system was designed to provide near-real time soil moisture and meteorological data. The field data is transmitted to an AAFC server on a timely basis. A Web segment of the sensor system is to be developed to enable data sharing based on Open Geospatial Consortium(OGC) standards and it can be divided into two sections : 1) transferring the data from AAFC server to a Web server based on interoperable protocols, and 2) data visualization and distribution by serving the data to the public on a Web-based platform.  3, record 1, English, - Real%2Dtime%20in%20situ%20soil%20monitoring%20for%20agriculture

The WOCE-SVP programme developed as a partnership between the Atlantic Oceanographic and Meteorological Laboratory in Miami and the Marine Environmental Data Service in Ottawa. With the permission of the principal investigators in the programme, AOML handles the initial processing of the data received through Argos. They carry out quality control on the data and generate the interpolated files. The Meteosat Data Collection System is the regional system for the Meteosat coverage areas. 33 regional telecommunications channels are used to relay environmental data to the PGS in Fucino. Selected data are then retransmitted back through Meteosat over the DCP Retransmission System(DRS). In addition, the PGS transmits the data to the Mission Control Centre(MCC) in Darmstadt for further processing and distribution.
