In 2011, AAFC [Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada]-STB [Science and Technology Branch of the National Agroclimate Information Service] built an in-situ sensor network where soil moisture and meteorological data are collected in agricultural landscapes within Ontario, Manitoba and Saskatchewan over a total of 18 stations. To meet the objectives of various research projects, the RISMA system was designed to provide near-real time soil moisture and meteorological data. A Web segment of the sensor system is to be developed to enable data sharing based on Open Geospatial Consortium(OGC) standards and it can be divided into two sections : 1) transferring the data from AAFC server to a Web server based on interoperable protocols, and 2) data visualization and distribution by serving the data to the public on a Web-based platform.

EMEP was founded by UNECE [United Nations Economic Commission for Europe], WMO [World Meteorological Organization] and UNEP [United Nations Environment Programme] in 1977. In 1983 it became a project under the Convention on Long-Range Transboundary Air pollution, itself under the auspices of the ECE Protection of the Environment framework. It is one of two regional networks, the other in North America, where a denser network of precipitation monitoring stations has been established to evaluate SO2 and NOX emissions and transport, in particular.

The Network for the Detection for Stratospheric Change(NDSC) is a set of high-quality remote-sounding research stations for observing and understanding the physical and chemical state of the stratosphere. Ozone and key ozone-related chemical compounds and parameters are targeted for measurement. The NDSC is a major component of the international upper atmosphere research effort and has been endorsed by national and international scientific agencies, including the International Ozone Commission, the United Nations Environment Programme(UNEP), and the World Meteorological Organization(WMO).

... of the World Meteorological Organization. The Atmospheric Research and Environment Programme promotes atmospheric research and development and technology transfer between Members. It includes the Global Atmosphere Watch, which integrates monitoring and research activities carried out under the Global Ozone Observing System(GO3OS) and the Background Air Pollution Monitoring Network(BAPMoN) and serves as a system to detect changes in the composition of the atmosphere, an important prerequisite to understanding human impact on the atmosphere and addressing important aspects of sustainable development. The Programme also includes weather prediction research; a Tropical Meteorology Research Programme relating to studies of monsoons, tropical cyclones, rain-producing tropical weather systems and droughts; and a programme on the physics and chemistry of clouds and weather modification.
