In 2011, AAFC [Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada]-STB [Science and Technology Branch of the National Agroclimate Information Service] built an in-situ sensor network where soil moisture and meteorological data are collected in agricultural landscapes within Ontario, Manitoba and Saskatchewan over a total of 18 stations. To meet the objectives of various research projects, the RISMA system was designed to provide near-real time soil moisture and meteorological data. The field data is transmitted to an AAFC server on a timely basis. A Web segment of the sensor system is to be developed to enable data sharing based on Open Geospatial Consortium(OGC) standards and it can be divided into two sections : 1) transferring the data from AAFC server to a Web server based on interoperable protocols, and 2) data visualization and distribution by serving the data to the public on a Web-based platform.

CCCma is a division of the Climate Research Branch of the Meteorological Service of Canada of Environment Canada. We conduct research in coupled and atmospheric climate modelling, sea-ice modelling, climate variability and predictability, the carbon cycle, and a number of other areas. CCCma is located on the beautiful Univeristy of Victoria campus.

The Air Quality Research Branch is one of the Branches of the Atmospheric and Climate Science Directorate, Meteorological Service of Canada, Environment Canada. The Branch was formed in 1971, originally to study the chemistry and physics of the atmosphere as it pertains to acid rain, but now the staff, the largest group of atmospheric specialists in Canada, studies a variety of atmospheric pollution problems.
