METHOD INFECTION [6 records]

Record 1 2010-02-16

English

Subject field(s)
  • IT Security
DEF

A method of infection in which the virus does not directly infect. EXE files; a copy of the virus is rather stored in a corresponding. COM file. The. EXE file, and the. COM file containing the viral code will both have the same base file name. The original target. EXE file is never changed.

French

Domaine(s)
  • Sécurité des TI
DEF

CONT

PCR consists in the selective amplification of a given DNA sequence from a pathogen’s genome. In qualitative PCR, the presence of an amplification product is checked by gel electrophoresis ...

CONT

When PCR is used only for detecting a specific DNA segment, the method is referred to as qualitative PCR.... Qualitative PCR is an extremely sensitive method which is theoretically able to detect a single DNA molecule in a sample solution. In many cases specific genes are copied in this way, e. g. in order to identify pathological changes.... Qualitative PCR is also used around the world in forensic medicine to identify individuals.... only qualitative PCR can determine whether an infection has been eradicated, whether it is chronic(and might therefore progress unnoticed) and whether the individual has been reinfected with a different but related pathogen.

DEF

CONT

Mechanical transmission of viruses is the most widely used method for experimental infection of plants and is usually achieved by rubbing virus-containing preparations into the leaves, which in most plant species are particularly susceptible to infection. However, this is also an important natural method of transmission. Virus particles may contaminate soil for long periods and may be transmitted to the leaves of new host plants as wind-blown dust or as rain-splashed mud.

CONT

Limbs deformed as a consequence of, for example, trauma, infection, rickets or bone tumours, may be dealt with using the same techniques. Bone transport, a method of filling a bone defect by moving an adjacent segment of bone within its soft tissue envelope, is of particular value for dealing with segmental defects such as occur with osteomyelitis.

French

Domaine(s)
  • Chirurgie orthopédique
CONT
