The technology of EBR is based on the fundamental principles of electrochemistry, microbiology, and electrokinetics. When wastewater enters the chamber of EBR, it undergoes an electrochemical reaction. This reaction causes a voltage gradient across the chamber that drives the movement of the charged ions. These charged ions create an electric field, which promotes the transfer of electrons between the bacterial cells present in the wastewater. The bacteria remain active during this process and consume the organic and inorganic contaminants, present in the wastewater. As a result, the contaminants are degraded into simpler forms and eventually transformed into harmless by-products or released into the environment. 2, record 1, English, - electro%2Dbiochemical%20reactor

1, record 4, French, - g%C3%A9lose%20toutes%20cultures

The Canadian Infectious Disease Society(CIDS) and the Canadian Association for Medical Microbiology(CAMM) officially joined forces on Friday April 30th, 2004, at their Annual General Meeting in Calgary. The two organizations will now form the Association of Medical Microbiology and Infectious Disease Canada(AMMI Canada). AMMI Canada has as its mandate the promotion of research and education in infectious diseases and microbiology, in addition to providing guidelines for optimal patient care in the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of infectious diseases. AMMI Canada will be a resource to government and other health-related groups and will communicate important issues in infectious diseases and microbiology to the medical community and the public. 3, record 32, English, - Association%20of%20Medical%20Microbiology%20and%20Infectious%20Disease%20Canada

In reviewing the history and current state of industrial microbiology we are struck by an abiding theme : mutually beneficial relations between what we have come to call basic research and applied research. A century ago the largely practical investigations of Pasteur led to the establishment of microbiology, immunology and biochemistry. Much later the discovery of antibiotics by applied microbiologists provided tools crucial to the development of molecular biology. And now basic research in microbial genetics has returned the favor by supplying an array of new techniques for industrial applications. 2, record 67, English, - industrial%20microbiology

1, record 67, French, - microbiologie%20industrielle
