2, record 1, French, - g%C3%A9n%C3%A9ration

Roll film having sprocket holes accurately located along one or both edges to aid in transporting and positioning the film for successive exposures in a camera. Earlier designs of microfilm cameras utilized the perforations in advancing the film. Since the presence of the perforations substantially reduced the usable area of the film, most contemporary camera designs utilize film-advance mechanisms that do not require perforations in the film. 1, record 9, English, - perforated%20film

1, record 9, French, - film%20perfor%C3%A9

Photo-optical coding places descriptive data related to documents in photo-optical format on the film. The coding is placed either adjacent to the document frame or along the edge of the film.... The coding is created through a keyboard associated with a microfilm camera or by filming precoded information simultaneously with the document or by COM [computer-output microfilm] with the appropriate software. A search is conducted by keying in the codes. The film code patterns are electronically scanned, and the film stops at the image or images identified by the desired matching codes. 2, record 12, English, - photo%2Doptical%20binary%20code
