We present a novel technique in which a reflection scanning near-field optical microscope (SNOM) is used for direct writing of nano-scale patterns into hydrogen-passivated silicon surfaces. The reflection SNOM is operated as a combined shear-force/near-field microscope enabling simultaneous imaging of topographical and optical properties with subwavelength resolution. ... Beside high resolution optical imaging (<50 nm) and patterning of hydrogen-passivated silicon surfaces, the SNOM can also be used for transferring nano-scale patterns into ordinary photo resist with a typical resolution of 50-100 nm. The SNOM thereby overcomes the far-field diffraction limit of conventional photolithography. 5, record 3, English, - scanning%20near%2Dfield%20optical%20microscope

3, record 3, Spanish, - microscopio%20%C3%B3ptico%20de%20barrido%20de%20campo%20cercano

Staphylococcus aureus is a Gram-positive coccus, which appears as grape-like clusters when viewed through a microscope and as large, round, golden-yellow colonies, often with ß-hemolysis, when grown on blood agar plates. The golden appearance is the etymological root of the bacteria's name : aureus means "gold" in Latin.... Today, S. aureus has become resistant to many commonly used antibiotics.... Methicillin was the first antibiotic in its class to be used(it was introduced in 1959), but only two years later, the first case of methicillin-resistant S. aureus(MRSA) was reported in England. 2, record 5, English, - Staphylococcus%20aureus

Pore size distribution. There are basically three different techniques for measuring the pore size of geotextiles. Initially, when all geotextiles were woven, the pore size was measured by using a calibrated microscope. In the case of rectangular pores, the size of the pore is taken as the smaller dimension. A grading curve for the pore size distribution can then be drawn on a semi-logarithmic graph(Figure 3. 8), with the percentage of the pores having the size specified, or a smaller size, shown on the vertical axis. The appearance of the pore size distribution graph is rather similar to a particle size distribution graph for a soil. 1, record 7, English, - pore%20size%20distribution
