8, record 1, French, - t%C3%A9l%C3%A9d%C3%A9tection%20en%20hyperfr%C3%A9quences%20passives

Remote Sensing is the science and art of acquiring information(spectral, spatial, temporal) about material objects, area, or phenomenon, without coming into physical contact with the objects, or area, or phenomenon under investigation.... In remote sensing, information transfer is accomplished by use of electromagnetic radiation(EMR). EMR is a form of energy that reveals its presence by the observable effects it produces when it strikes the matter.... Types [of remote sensing] in respect to the type of energy resources. Passive remote sensing makes use of sensors that detect the reflected or emitted electro-magnetic radiation from natural sources. Active remote sensing makes use of sensors that detect reflected responses from objects that are irradiated from artificially-generated energy sources, such as radar.... In respect to wavelength regions, remote sensing is categorized as follows : visible and reflective infrared remote sensing, thermal infrared remote sensing and microwave remote sensing. 6, record 2, English, - electromagnetic%20remote%20sensing

... imaging radar systems are active sensors that "illuminate" surface features with broadcast microwave energy and record a returned signal. Most imaging radar systems produce microwaves with wavelengths between 1 cm and 1 meter, longer than the wavelengths used in weather radar to detect rain and snow. These longer wavelength microwave signals propagate through the atmosphere and clouds with almost no interaction or weakening. As a result imaging radar systems can be used to map surface features day or night and in almost any weather conditions. These characteristics make radar imaging especially useful in tropical and polar regions where persistent cloud cover hampers optical remote sensing efforts. 2, record 3, English, - surface%20feature

Traditional methods for acquiring topographic data typically rely on aerial photogrammetry, where measurement of the terrain surface below forest canopy is difficult and error prone. The recent emergence of airborne P-band interferometric synthetic aperture radar(IFSAR), a high-resolution, microwave remote sensing technology, has the potential to provide significantly more accurate terrain models in forested areas. Low-frequency, P-band radar energy physically penetrates through the vegetation canopy and reflects from the underlying terrain surface, allowing for accurate measurement of the terrain surface elevation even in areas with dense forest cover. 3, record 7, English, - interferometric%20synthetic%20aperture%20radar

2, record 7, French, - radar%20interf%C3%A9rom%C3%A9trique%20%C3%A0%20synth%C3%A8se%20d%27ouverture

Microwave data can be used for estimation of erosion model parameters such as vegetation cover, soil moisture status, surface roughness and topography. But, the main advantage would be to use these types of data to validate model predictions, which otherwise using traditional field surveys would be time and money consuming and sometimes even impossible. 3, record 8, English, - microwave%20datum

Remote sensing at microwave wavelengths(generally 30 cm to 0. 1 cm wavelength or 1 GHz to a few hundred GHz) is effective because of the relatively insignificant atmospheric attenuation for many microwave windows; [the] thermal microwave emission(day and night) ;the presence of some pronounced absorption features in the microwave which can be used to monitor atmospheric properties; detectors with adequate sensitivity. 4, record 8, English, - microwave%20datum

3, record 8, French, - donn%C3%A9e%20hyperfr%C3%A9quence
