Space weaponization is a subset of space militarization. If one envisions a natural sequence ranging from space systems not being used for any militarily useful purposes at all, to satellites providing services to support terrestrial military operations..., to satellites being integral parts of terrestrial weapon systems..., and finally to weapons themselves being deployed in space, weaponization occurs when the upper range of this sequence is reached. At its most extreme, space weaponization would include the deployment in quantity of a full range of space weapons, including satellite-based systems for ballistic missile defense(BMD), ground-and space-based anti-satellite weapons(ASATs), and a variety of space-to-Earth weapons(STEW), and these would play a central role in any type of military operations conducted by their owners. 3, record 18, English, - weaponization%20of%20outer%20space

There are still flaws remaining in the structure composing the Alliance that threaten the relevance of the institution and its operational functions in the execution of the expeditionary military engagements necessary for forward defense. These limitations will impact future deployments, but in the aftermath of the transatlantic rift, the on-going military operations, and the ever-present threat of transatlantic terrorism encourage an atmosphere of cooperation. If the Allies chose to continue this reconciliation, NATO has the potential to serve a premier role in international security and in a forward defense of Europe... 2, record 37, English, - forward%20defence

In Canada, there is a distinction made between "aid to the civil power" and "assistance to civil authorities. "The former expression refers to military aid provided to the provincial police forces to restore and maintain law and order. The latter encompasses all other forms of assistance the military gives to the civil community. Examples include search and rescue operations, counter-terrorism response, emergencies(natural and man-induced), fisheries and border protection, humanitarian assistance, counter-drug operations, arms smuggling, illegal immigrants, environmental surveillance and special events. 7, record 88, English, - aid%20to%20the%20civil%20power

The expression "aid of the civil power" is used in some texts because it appears in the National Defence Act. Even after the 1985 revision of the Act, the use of the preposition "of" continues to be used, even though the more appropriate expression is "aid to the civil power." 7, record 88, English, - aid%20to%20the%20civil%20power

7, record 88, French, - aide%20au%20pouvoir%20civil
