Primary radar reads the reflected returns only.... Primary radar obtains slant-range information on the "target" from the time difference between sending and receiving the reflection. That is why there is no altitude information; one cannot extract it from this simple function. Secondary radar has a transponder-negotiation function, and is used in military IFF [identification, friend or foe] systems as well as civilian transponder systems.... In 1916, Sir Max Aitken, Lord Beaverbrook, a Canadian who had settled in England, took it upon himself to form a committee that would oversee the creation of an official pictorial record of Canada's effort in the First World War, to be known as the Canadian War Memorials. A similar undertaking was initiated by H. O. McCurry, the director of the National Gallery of Canada from 1939 to 1955, to record the Canadian military presence in the Second World War, resulting in what would be known as the Canadian War Records Collection. A monumental building to house the two war collections, designed by the British architect E. A. Rickards, was also proposed, but the ambitious project was never realized. By 1950 the combined collections from the two wars numbered over 5, 000 works. The majority of them were transferred to the Canadian War Museum in 1971. 2, record 7, English, - Canadian%20War%20Records%20Collection

Imagery Exploitation System (IES). Modernized Imagery Exploitation System (MIES). MIES is a Corps and EAC tactical imagery exploitation system capable of receiving, processing, and disseminating national and theater imagery. The MIES provides first phase imagery exploitation for the Indications and Warnings (I&W) missions of Army users. The system provides IMINT reports and Secondary Imagery Dissemination (SID) through an extensive communications section. It travels with its own satellite communications (SATCOM) system that provides the relayed national imagery through the Defense Dissemination System (DDS). 2, record 8, English, - imagery%20exploitation%20system

It restored the remaining buildings, the officer’s quarters, and opened a scenic road along the bay. It was called the Historic Naval and Military Establishments. The new NATO strategic concept is based on a significantly diminished forward presence and a minimal nuclear capability. It puts a premium on the maintenance of sufficient, flexible and highly mobile standing forces throughout the Alliance; available, well-trained, suitably equipped and sufficiently large military reserves; and the means to ensure a timely flow of supplies and reinforcements across the Atlantic in a crisis. It also requires enhanced Alliance political cohesion. 1, record 14, English, - minimum%20nuclear%20capability

1, record 14, French, - capacit%C3%A9%20nucl%C3%A9aire%20minimale
