The mission consisted of 7 distinct components : human rights, electoral, military, civil administration, civilian police, repatriation and rehabilitation. Although each component had specific roles, UNTAC' s main task was to hold a free and fair election in Cambodia and to give its people the tools to build a stable and peaceful future. On 4 November 1993, the Security Council noted that the goal of the Paris Agreements had been reached with the conclusion of the UNTAC' s mission.

The group of soldiers learned how to conduct vehicle and personnel searches at selected checkpoints throughout the base. They also learned how to patrol base areas and gained the proper skills of searching and detaining suspect personnel.
