CSAR. Microgravity Sciences provided researchers and scientists from Canadian industry and universities with low-cost, high-quality microgravity flight opportunities aboard the Canadian Space Agency Rocket(CSAR), a Black Brandt rocket developed by Bristol Aerospace Ltd. The first rocket, CSAR-1, was launched in March 1992 and carried five experiments; CSAR-2 was launched in December 1994 and also carried five experiments. Both launches took place at the White Sands Missile Range in White Sands, New Mexico. The Canadian experiments onboard, subjected to six minutes of high-quality microgravity conditions, were designed to advance our understanding of the processes and behaviours of materials, which may lead Canada to improving product manufacturing on Earth and enhancing the development of erosion-resistant materials. 2, record 11, English, - Canadian%20Space%20Agency%20rocket

CSAR. 1, record 11, French, - fus%C3%A9e%20d%27exp%C3%A9rimentation%20de%20l%27Agence%20spatiale%20canadienne

The Missile Defense Agency today awarded Lockheed Martin a $40 million design and risk reduction contract as the next phase of the advanced technology concept demonstration to deliver a high altitude airship(HAA) prototype in 2006. The prototype airship will be about 500 feet long, 160 feet in diameter and have a volume of 5. 2 million cubic feet, about 25 times larger than the blimps seen at athletic events. The prototype HAA that Lockheed Martin will develop include sustained operations for one month at 65, 000 feet while providing 10 kilowatts of power to a 4, 000-pound payload. Additionally, the HAA prototype will demonstrate station-keeping and autonomous flight control capabilities. 2, record 26, English, - high%20altitude%20airship

One of the famous stories at Camp Happiness was about the blast deflectors at the Cape Canaveral launch pad. Apparently, the first time a bird was launched, the fin mounted ARW-59 Command Guidance(Range Safety) antennae blew off and down into the tunnel. The debris blew out the tube and up into the overhead power lines, causing loss of power at the entire complex, particularly the Range Safety Officer's Console. While the missile was last seen disappearing into the cloud cover headed down range, a piece of the honeycomb wing washed up on the Florida beach not long after, proving the "Fail Safe" backup system had destructed the bird in flight. 2, record 32, English, - safety%20officer%27s%20console

The latter will be designed to be launched from surface ships as well as submarines, primarily as a non-nuclear anti-ship missile with a range of up to several hundred miles. The intercontinental ballistic missiles(ICBM) and submarine-launched ballistic missiles(SLBM) developed over the past 50 years have employed successive generations of increasingly accurate inertial guidance systems. The comparatively short time of guided flight and high acceleration levels characteristic of the ballistic missile application place a premium on accelerometer performance to achieve desired weapon system accuracy. To date, the accelerometer design of choice for strategic missiles has been the Pendulous Integrating Gyroscopic Accelerometer(PIGA) instrument, an accelerometer whose origins trace back to the German V2 rocket, and has been refined through several generations of development to achieve unsurpassed performance. 4, record 36, English, - pendulous%20integrating%20gyroscopic%20accelerometer

BAE Systems has delivered the first production Directional Infra Red Countermeasures(DIRCM) anti-missile protection turret. The system is being fitted to transport aircraft and helicopters in service with American and British armed forces and will protect the aircraft from infra red heat-seeking missiles by jamming the seeker... DIRCM is a revolutionary protection system, which is designed to detect the launch of a heat-seeking missile, determine if it is a threat and track its flight, before defeating its seeker head with an emission of infra red energy. The missile loses its lock on the target and very quickly veers off its course and is destroyed. 2, record 37, English, - DIRCM%20turret

1, record 37, French, - tourelle%20de%20type%20DIRCM
