Pegylated interferon... is a chemically modified form of the standard interferon that treats hepatitis C and rarely hepatitis B. The difference between interferon and peginterferon is the PEG, which stands for a molecule called polyethylene glycol. The PEG does nothing to fight the virus. But by attaching it to the interferon(which does fight the virus), the interferon will stay in the body(specifically the blood) much longer. 4, record 1, English, - PEGylated%20interferon

This is a system comprised of two enzymatic activities : one a restriction endonuclease that cuts DNA and the other, a methylase that modifies DNA at the same sequence. The idea being that the bacteria's own DNA is modified at the proper sites and hence is protected from the action of the restriction enzyme. However if foreign DNA enters the cell, such as by transformation or by a virus, that DNA is "foreign" and not correctly modified, hence it is a substrate for the restriction enzyme and is cut up into small pieces. 5, record 5, English, - restriction%2Dmodification%20system

A variety of approaches is being used to develop a vaccine. The most advanced are live oral vaccines developed by scientists at the US National Institutes of Health and Wistar Institute, in collaboration with US vaccine manufacturers. These are "re-assortant" vaccines-so-called because they are based on an animal strain of rotavirus(from a monkey or cow) that has been modified by the substitution of gene segments from human strains of the virus. These genes encode protective antigens from the outer shell of the virus. The vaccines include genes from the four serotypes of rotavirus most commonly found-all of which occur in children.
