MODULATION EFFICIENCY [4 records]

Record 1 2023-10-25

English

Subject field(s)
  • General Conduct of Military Operations
  • War and Peace (International Law)
  • Psychology (General)
DEF

All actions designed to influence enemy personnel (including the political leadership and non-combatants) in order to serve the manipulators’ purposes.

CONT

The tools of psychological warfare are : the presentation and distortion of images(propaganda) ;the coordination of military and/or diplomatic action in order to create particular images; the modulation of existing pressures within the enemy camp in order to affect morale, discipline or the efficiency of decision-making.

French

Domaine(s)
  • Conduite générale des opérations militaires
  • Guerre et paix (Droit international)
  • Psychologie (Généralités)
DEF

Spanish

Campo(s) temático(s)
  • Conducción general de las operaciones militares
  • Guerra y paz (Derecho internacional)
  • Psicología (Generalidades)
DEF

Record 2 2012-02-15

English

Subject field(s)
  • Telecommunications
DEF

The utilization of the inactivity periods that always exist in both transmission directions of a telephone conversation. The interpolation is used in order to increase the efficiency and lower the cost of long distance links. Analog signals with quiescent periods or long vowels are compressed, for example by time assignment speech interpolation, transmitted, and expanded by inverse compression(expansion) at the receiving end. This principle... is now being developed for digital speech [and] when pulse code modulation is used, the process is known as digital speech interpolation.

Record 3 2012-01-05

English

Subject field(s)
  • Electronics
DEF

Modulation of an electron beam by making the density of the electrons in the beam vary with time.

CONT

The efficiency of the charge density modulation of an electron bunch in the field of a linearly polarized monochromatic electromagnetic wave propagating oppositely to the bunch motion is considered.

OBS

density modulation: term officially approved by the Electronics and Telecommunications Terminology Committee.

French

Domaine(s)
  • Électronique
CONT

Record 4 2009-11-13

English

Subject field(s)
  • Radio Transmission and Reception
  • Telecommunications Transmission
CONT

High-power modulation. In an AM transmitter amplitude modulation of the carrier by introducing the modulating signal into the anode circuit of the final amplifying stage. The power of the modulating signal thus approximates to that at the transmitter output.

CONT

Modulation is also identified as to level. High level modulation occurs when the modulating voltage is applied to the collector/plate circuit of the final power amplifier. With high level modulation, the final stage is operated class C and the preceding stages are also operated class C. The overall efficiency of such a transmitter is very high. A disadvantage of high level modulation is that comparatively high audio power is needed and several stages of voltage and power amplification may be required in the speech amplifier and modulator circuits.

French

Domaine(s)
  • Émission et réception radio
  • Transmission (Télécommunications)

Spanish

Campo(s) temático(s)
  • Radiotransmisión y radiorrecepción
  • Transmisión (Telecomunicaciones)
DEF

Modulación de la portadora de un transmisor de radio efectuada en el amplificador de radiofrecuencia final, normalmente en su circuito anódico.
