MOLAR HEAT [4 records]

Record 1 2012-02-17

English

Subject field(s)
  • Heat (Physics)
  • Analytical Chemistry
CONT

The total or integral heat of dilution is the difference in enthalpy between a solution and its components. The differential heat of dilution or of mixing, which is more commonly meant by the term heat of dilution, is the heat absorbed(change in partial molar enthalpy) when one mole of a specified component is dissolved in a large bulk of solution at constant temperature and pressure.

French

Domaine(s)
  • Chaleur (Physique)
  • Chimie analytique
DEF

English

Subject field(s)
  • Scientific Measurements and Analyses
  • Thermodynamics
  • Atmospheric Physics
  • Heat (Physics)
CONT

Molar quantity is often convenient to express an extensive quantity(e. g., volume, enthalpy, heat capacity, etc.) as the actual value divided by amount of substance(number of moles).

CONT

Extensive variables are proportional to the size of the system. Intensive variables do not depend on the size of the system. Extensive variables: volume, mass, energy. Intensive variables: pressure, temperature, density. If we divide an extensive quantity by the number of moles (or number of particles), we obtain an intensive quantity.

French

Domaine(s)
  • Mesures et analyse (Sciences)
  • Thermodynamique
  • Physique de l'atmosphère
  • Chaleur (Physique)
CONT

English

Subject field(s)
  • Analytical Chemistry
CONT

As the flame lengthens and engulfs the thermocouple, the thermocouple output is fed through a circuit either to a spot galvanometer or a potentiometric recorder, the temperature change being directly related to(1) the amount of substance burned with hydrogen and(2) its molar heat of combustion.
