Plastics technicians are skilled professionals who help engineers, scientists, research groups, and manufacturers design, develop, manufacture, and market plastics products. Plastics technicians may work in research and development or manufacturing. In these settings, they function at a level between the engineer or scientist in charge of a job, and the production or laboratory workers who carry out most of the tasks. Other plastics technicians handle mold and tool making, materials and machinery, sales and services, and related technical tasks. 2, record 1, English, - plastics%20technician

The development of reaction injection molding(RIM) allowed the rapid molding of liquid materials. In these processes, cold or warm, two highly reactive, low-molecular-weight, low-viscosity resin systems are first injected into a mixing head and from there into a heated mold, where the reaction to a solid is completed. 7, record 2, English, - reaction%20injection%20molding

Downy Mildew of Cabbage. Caused by the fungus Peronospora parasitica. Damage occurs mostly to young plants or to exposed leaves of heading plants. 2, record 3, English, - downy%20mildew%20of%20cabbage
Record number: 3, Textual support number: 2 CONT
The fungus causing downy mildew of cabbage also attacks other crucifers, such as cauliflower, collards, Chinese cabbage, Brussels sprouts, broccoli, kale, and kohlrabi... The first symptoms of downy mildew are the formation of black specks and yellow-brown spots on the upper leaf surface, accompanied by the development of a fluffy mold growth on the lower surface. Young leaves may fall off when infected, and on older leaves, the spots may coalesce, producing large, sunken, tan spots. The disease can attack young seedlings or plants that have already headed. On older cabbage plants, the disease produces dark, sunken spots, which may appear purplish, on the head or wrapper leaves. 3, record 3, English, - downy%20mildew%20of%20cabbage

... Ronald C. Idol, market development manager from Cryovac, reported on the American introduction of oxygen absorber packets from Japan and the revolutionary effect they may have on food-packaging and preservation. The most dramatic result of oxygen absorbers is their ability to create a cost-effective, controlled-atmosphere package.... Free oxygen is a major cause of deterioration of foods.... However, the combination of an oxygen-barrier package and an oxygen-absorber packet can change all that. The packet, which usually contains powdered, active iron-oxide, chemically absorbs the free oxygen in the package. The level of oxygen is reduced to 0. 01 per cent or less within one day at room temperature. Due to this low residual-oxygen level, mold cannot grow on the food. Oxidative color and flavor changes are also eliminated. 3, record 4, English, - deoxidizer

We found that cleaning scab-infected wheat on a gravity table before storage increased the storability of 20% moisture wheat by 12 to 43%. In our corn storage tests, even though we used varieties that were believed to have wide genetic differences, the chemical compositions were too similar for our model that predicts sotrability from composition to work well. Also, we found that storability rankings(best to worst) were not consistent from one year to the next. Our machine vision work resulted in development of a new on-line calibration procedure that gives us more consistent readings under changing lighting conditions; a procedure for quantifying mold coverage on corn kernels; and a batch analysis procedure for analyzing kernel mechanical damage that is much simpler and faster, but only slightly more variable than analyzing kernels one at a time. 2, record 5, English, - gravity%20table
