Record 1 2013-10-02

English

Subject field(s)
  • Nuclear Physics
DEF

A method for calculating the attenuation of neutron and gamma-radiation by using the transport equation to determine spatial moments of particle flux density.

OBS

mean range: term and definition standardized by ISO in 1997.

French

Domaine(s)
  • Physique nucléaire
DEF

Record 2 2010-05-21

English

Subject field(s)
  • Strength of Materials
CONT

Equilibrium-compatibility approach to the determination of the strength of reinforced concrete rectangular beams under combined bending and torsion.... This method... takes account of the initial ultimate moment and twist ratio for determining the failure surface and the strength. The assumptions made in the method are first listed, and the step-by-stem procedure to find the failure moments is explained...

Record 3 1999-09-07

English

Subject field(s)
  • Statistical Methods
DEF

A method of estimating the parameters of a distribution by equating as many moments of the observed data as necessary to the corresponding moments of the distribution, and solving the resulting equations.

French

Domaine(s)
  • Méthodes statistiques
CONT

Record 4 1994-11-18

English

Subject field(s)
  • Types of Concrete
CONT

The approach by curvatures is a more direct method than the approach by layers to model concrete structures. In fact, instead of working with the stress-strain laws and integrating these laws over the depth of the structure to obtain the curvatures and the moments, we work directly with non-linear moment-curvature laws.

French

Domaine(s)
  • Sortes de béton
CONT

Record 5 1982-08-30

English

Subject field(s)
  • Walls and Partitions
  • Foundation Engineering
OBS

Rowe(30) conducted extensive medium-scale-model tests on dry sand with a greater range of bulkhead flexibilities. Rowe established a general relationship between the reduction of bending moments computed by the free-earth-support method(...) and the "flexibility number [rho]" of a bulkhead.

OBS

Earth-retaining structures.

French

Domaine(s)
  • Murs et cloisons
  • Technique des fondations
OBS
