In the homogeneous equilibrium model (HEM) one assumes that the velocity, temperature and pressure between the phases or components are equal. 1, record 9, English, - homogeneous%20equilibrium%20model
Record number: 9, Textual support number: 1 OBS
This assumption is based on the belief that differences in these three potential variables(and chemical potential if chemical reactions are considered) will promote momentum, energy, and mass transfer between the phases rapidly enough so that equilibrium is reached. For example, when one phase is finely dispersed in another phase generating large interfacial area, under certain circumstances this assumption can be made; e. g., bubbly flow of air in water or steam in water at high pressures. The resulting equations resemble those for a pseudo-fluid with mixture properties and an equation of state which links the phases to obtain these mixture thermodynamic properties. Whenever the HEM model is used it is advisable to check the validity of the equilibrium assumptions by using more accurate theoretical models for comparison. For example, rapid acceleration or pressure changes cannot be always accurately modelled with the HEM model; i. e., discharge of flashing vapor-liquid mixtures, or shock wave propagation through a multiphase medium. This is especially true when the pressure change is large when compared to the ambient pressure, or any of the driving potentials are large relative to their reference values. 1, record 9, English, - homogeneous%20equilibrium%20model

This equation ... assumes that the major part of the turbulent transport is dominated by eddies smaller than the distance over which the gradient is measured. This requirement is not met with elevated measurement heights in a strongly convective boundary layer. Since the turbulent exchange coefficient is a property of the flow and not of the compound transported, a similarity between exchange coefficients for passive scalar properties can be assumed. 5, record 13, English, - turbulent%20exchange%20coefficient

A transport property of a substance is its ability to transfer matter, energy, or some other specified property from one place to another. For example, molecules(in gases, liquids, and solids) diffuse down a concentration gradient until the composition is uniform, and the rate of this diffusion is a transport property. The rate of thermal conduction, the transport of energy down a temperature gradient, is another transport property characteristic of the substance and its state. Electric conduction is the transport of charge(by ions or electrons) in a potential gradient, and the electric conductivity of the substance is a transport property. ... many weather phenomena occur on the ’mesoscale’... Mesoscale is believed to play an important role in transferring energy from the large scale down to the small scales.... Energy Cascade. As we go down scales, we see finer and finer structures. Many of these structures are due to certain types of instabilities that inherently limit the size and duration of the phenomena. Also, there exist exchanges of energy, heat, moisture and momentum among all scales. Example : A thunderstorm feeds off convective instabilities... created by e. g., synoptic-scale cyclones.... The thunderstorm in turn can produce tornadoes... Strong winds in the tornado creates turbulent eddies which then dissipate and eventually turn the kinetic energy into heat. Convective activities can also feed back into the large scale and enhancing synoptic scale cyclones. Most of the energy transfer in the atmosphere is downscale-starting from differential heating with latitude and land-sea contrast on the planetary scales.(Energy in the atmosphere can also transfer upscale). We call the energy transfer among scales energy cascade. 3, record 17, English, - energy%20cascade
