CONT

"Road freight transport management(RFTM) "is a system of tools that is intended to improve the safety and economic efficiency of freight vehicles, as well as reducing their associated environmental burdens and improving local quality of life. The measures include infrastructural and non-structural measures such as developing roads and allocating freight movement to a desirable time and route.

CONT

OBS

The Vancouver Rail Task Force(VRTF) was established in 1977, under the auspices of WESTAC(Western Transportation Advisory Council), when the Government of British Columbia, the British Columbia Railway, and the VJCRU recommended at the Vancouver hearings of the Grain Handling and Transportation Commission, that a Task Force be established to improve the rail transportation system in the Vancouver Area. It lasted until 1982. Its objective was "to increase the reliability, speed, efficiency and safety of rail car movement through the Vancouver Terminal Area. "To do this, there was a project team created consisting of the Chairman, from WESTAC, a senior representative of railroad management, a senior representative of railroad labour, and one senior representative of the Federal Government.

Rotary speeds are of the order of 90 to 100 rev/min and penetration rates range from 23 to 40 ft/h (the lower limit applying to the larger diameter surface casing holes, and the upper limit to the deep small diameter holes in the production zone).

OBS

casing : Steel pipe placed in an oil or gas well to prevent the wall of the hole from caving in, to prevent movement of fluids from one formation to another, and to improve the efficiency of extracting petroleum if the well is productive.

CONT

OBS

The process of solute movement into and out of the stationary phase or mobile phase. It is represented by the C term of the van Deemter equation and is referred to as the mass transfer term. The faster the process of mass transfer, the better the efficiency of the column. In HPLC, mass transfer is the most important factor affecting column efficiency. It is increased by the use of small particle packings, thin layers of stationary phase, low viscosity mobile phases, and high temperatures.

CONT

Hydrocyclones are used for sewage sludge degritting in applications requiring high efficiency and a high degree of grit removal.... [In] the hydrocyclone... the feed is introduced tangentially to a cylindrical feed section, and the liquid slurry develops a rotational movement and passes into a conical section. The centrifugal force created by the cyclonic movement of the liquid forces the heavier solid particles to the outer wall.

OBS

The terms "cyclone separator", "cyclone collector" and "cyclone" are often used as synonyms of "hydrocyclone". They are however generic with respect to "hydrocyclone" because whereas in hydrocyclones the solids are separated from a liquid, in the others the solids are separated from either a liquid or air mixture.

CONT

The authors also stated that the alluvial plains of the Ganges-Brahmaputra basin hold the world’s largest reserve of fresh, annually replenished groundwater. The cost of tube-well irrigation is around a $1000/hectare irrigated, which is a third of the cost of surface gravity irrigation and about twice as productive.

OBS

There are basically 3 types of irrigation methods : Surface irrigation-Gravity system. Sprinkler irrigation-Pressurized system. Drip irrigation-Pressurized system. Surface Irrigation. Surface/gravity irrigation is characterized by the movement of water across the surface of the irrigated field. A distinction is made between the 2 main surface methods : a) Flood irrigation. b) Furrow irrigation. Surface irrigation is not economical with water, cannot be used in slope areas, not suitable for some crops and requires much labour. The overall irrigation efficiency in surface irrigation is not more that 45%-55%.

OBS

Surface irrigation: Broad class of irrigation methods in which water is distributed over the soil surface by gravity flow.

Domaine(s)

CONT

CONT

Tomato ringspot nepovirus(TomRSV) infects small fruits and tree fruits. Coat and movement proteins of TomRSV are expressed coordinately via proteolytic processing of a polyprotein precursor at specific cleavage sites by a virus-encoded protease. Therefore the two cleavage sites involved in the release of the coat and movement proteins from the precursor polyprotein must be recognized at equal efficiency by the TomSVP protease. These results provide important information toward the inhibitors of viral proteases, which has potential as a novel strategy for engineering resistance to plant viruses.

CONT

In the (...) polyomeylitis virus the RNA molecule in the virion serves as the mRNA to encode all the viral proteins. The individual proteins are first synthesized as a single long poypeptide strand or polyprotein which is then cleaved to yield the different proteins.
