The modes of interaction with systems are becoming evermore varied and sophisticated. Many of our research projects exploit the visual analysis of the end-user in order to improve human-machine interaction. The investigation of gaze and visual attention, the identification of movements, the tracking of facial muscular movements and the recognition of facial expressions are exploited to better comprehend the user's intention in order to supply it with a more user-friendly system. 3, record 1, English, - human%2Dcomputer%20interaction

Augmented reality(AR) is the addition of digital imagery and other information to the real world by a computer system. AR enhances a user's view or perception of the world by adding computer generated information to their view. Spatial augmented reality is a branch of AR research that uses projectors to augment physical objects with computer generated information and graphics. Traditionally, projectors have been used to project information onto purpose built projection screens, or walls. SAR on the other hand, locates(or projects) information directly onto objects of interest, including moving objects. SAR systems use sensors to develop a three dimensional(3D) model of the world, and typically include tracking systems that enable them to dynamically track movement of real world objects. Such movements or changes are integrated into the 3D model so that updates can be made to projections as objects are moved around. 1, record 8, English, - spatial%20augmented%20reality

2, record 8, French, - r%C3%A9alit%C3%A9%20augment%C3%A9e%20spatiale

Originally called "house clocks" or "great chamber clocks, "lantern clocks were renamed as such during the mid-nineteenth century. As their original name suggests, they were designed as simple, functional timepieces, used to regulate the daily routine and activities of the household in which they hung. Their weight-driven movements were stout, reliable, comparatively cheap and were more accurate than contemporary spring clocks... Domestic inventories of the period show that lantern clocks were usually hung in a hall or on a staircase, where sufficient space existed beneath for the drop of their weights and where the sound of their bell or alarm could reverberate through the house. 4, record 14, English, - lantern%20clock

... pneumatic robotic technology may be employed to create mechanical devices that move in a more fluid and life-like manner that enhance the user experience in various interactive and visual experiences. Moreover, pneumatic robotic technology provides the ability for humans(e. g., guests) to interact with animate characters or attraction features(e. g., machines, robots) in a comfortable and interactive fashion since they achieve their shapes and movements by directing fluid(e. g., gas and/or liquid) through a collapsible or inflatable material(e. g., housing). Trajectory optimization can be used to enhance robotic motion and, in some examples, minimize the time a robot spends on travel in addition to optimizing or satisfying other requirements or restrictions for a given scenario. Optimization may be used to minimize time elapsed during travel in addition to reducing chances for error. In the example of a robotic picking environment wherein a robotic device is used to pick and place items, trajectory optimization may be used to reduce the chance of dropping an object by losing grip or suction stability creating smooth paths and reducing jerky movements, in addition to optimizing other parameters. Furthermore, optimizing the trajectories of a robot when picking and placing objects can increase the number of picks a robot can complete in a given time period and reduce the amount of time spent fixing errors due to issues like dropping or collisions. 1, record 20, English, - trajectory%20optimization

1, record 20, French, - optimisation%20de%20trajectoires

... the three basic elements that make up breaking—top rock, down rock and freeze. Top rock refers to all moves that are performed while standing up—generally a combination of stylish hand movements and footwork whereas freeze is when the breaker comes to a standstill in an unusual position(on their head or hands) in the middle of their routine. But the most crucial and often the highlight of the performance is the down rock, which involves all moves done on the floor. It features spins, footwork, transitions and, most importantly, power moves. 2, record 23, English, - spin

Flexibility refers to the range of motion around a joint.... The ability to successfully perform many movements and skills depends on the range of motion... For instance, to hit a high ball during a soccer game, players have to lift their leg to chest level, so they must be flexible enough to go beyond that level.... Flexibility is not improved in one or two stretching sessions but rather with an ongoing emphasis on statically and dynamically engaging the various muscles and joints with a variety of stretching exercises. 2, record 24, English, - flexibility

To maintain a stable perception of the world around us while we engage in normal movements throughout our day, such as walking, we have something known as the vestibulo-ocular reflex(VOR). This reflex keeps us steady and balanced even though our eyes and head are continuously moving when we perform most actions. When we make a head movement, our eye muscles are triggered instantly to create an eye movement opposite to that of our head movement at the exact same speed to readjust the visual world, which, in turn, stabilizes our retinal image by keeping the eye still in space and focused on an object, despite the head motion. 8, record 25, English, - vestibulo%2Docular%20reflex

The Dix-Hallpike test is typically performed in a doctor’s office. The doctor will ask you to sit upright on an exam table with your legs stretched out in front of you and your head turned to one side. They will then ask you to lower your head and torso back so that you end up lying with your head stretched off the edge of the exam table, turned with one ear down at a 45-degree angle. If there are misplaced calcium deposits (also called canaliths) in the posterior canal of your inner ear, this will trigger vertigo symptoms. 4, record 29, English, - Dix%2DHallpike%20manoeuver

Related to the lute, the mandolin is a small stringed instrument constructed of wood. Its eight wire strings are tuned in pairs to the same notes as those of a violin. The distinctive tremolo sound of the mandolin is created by quick movements of the plectrum(pick) across the four courses, or pairs, of strings. Although the 18th-century instrument was built in several varieties in different Italian towns, the mandolins built in Naples eventually became the representative type now known as the Neapolitan mandolin. The ribbed, pear-shaped body of the Neapolitan mandolin is attached to a neck containing a fingerboard, usually with 17 frets. The strings are hitched to the bottom of the instrument's body, then pass over a bridge and are tuned at the top of the neck. 3, record 36, English, - Neapolitan%20mandolin

6, record 44, French, - syndrome%20de%20verrouillage
