A technical indicator is a series of data points that are derived by applying a formula to the price data of a security. Price data includes any combination of the open, high, low or close over a period of time. Some indicators may use only the closing prices, while others incorporate volume and open interest into their formulas. The price data is entered into the formula and a data point is produced. For example, the average of 3 closing prices is one data point ((41+43+43) / 3 = 42.33) ... A series of data points over a period of time is required to create valid reference points to enable analysis. By creating a time series of data points, a comparison can be made between present and past levels. For analysis purposes, technical indicators are usually shown in a graphical form above or below a security’s price chart. Once shown in graphical form, an indicator can then be compared with the corresponding price chart of the security.

Technical indicators look to predict the future price levels, or simply the general price direction, of a security by looking at past patterns. Examples of common technical indicators include the relative strength index, the money flow index, stochastics, the MACD [moving average convergence divergence] and the bollinger bands.

The pulsed plasma thruster(PPT) with solid propellant is used for low power propulsion systems; typically with an average power less than thirty watts. Teflon PPTs have enjoyed limited use in east-west station keeping and sun pointing applications. PPTs do not produce sufficient thrust to be considered as candidates to provide primary propulsion of future out of Earth orbit missions and were not considered for SMART-1.

Bilinear filtering is a method of anti-aliasing texture maps. A texture-aliening artifact occurs due to sampling on a finite pixel grid. Point-sampled telexes jump from one pixel to another at random times. This aliening is very noticeable on slowly rotating or moving polygons. The texture image jumps and shears along pixel boundaries. To eliminate this problem, bilinear filtering takes a weighted average of four adjacent texture pixels to create a single telex.

The prevailing winds in Sydney area are a combination of synoptic(pressure driven) flows and meso-scale(local) flows. The synoptic conditions are dominated by high pressure systems, moving air in a clockwise direction across Australia, from west to east, with an average period of six to seven days. In summer these high pressure systems are located to the south of Sydney, resulting in onshore synoptic winds. In winter these synoptic pressure systems shift north, following the movement of the sun to the northern hemisphere, resulting in westerly synoptic winds. A modeling process by which variation in a time series are assumed to be explained wholly by the historical trends of the data itself. In essence, the ARIMA modeling process consists of the autoregressive and moving average processes of the Auto-Regressive Moving Average(ARMA) Model process on data that have been Differenced to render them Stationary. The process uses variations of differencing and transformations to describe historical patterns in the data. Like the simpler ARMA model, forecasts made by an ARIMA modeling process consist of only a mathematical process of projecting inherent characteristics of trend, cycles, and seasonality into the future and incorporate no economic relatinships. Consequently, such models are not appropriate for impact analysis or for incorporating random "shocks", but may prove an effective estimation process when the trends in the historical data are relatively stable and well-behaved.

Most moving average calculation methods are unable to compensate for trading range versus trending markets. During trading ranges(when prices move sideways in a narrow range) shorter term moving averages tend to produce numerous false signals. In trending markets(when prices move up or down over an extended period) longer term moving averages are slow to react to reversals in trend. By automatically adjusting the smoothing constant, a variable moving average is able to adjust its sensitivity, allowing it to perform better in both types of markets.
