synthetic aperture radar; SAR :[A] synthetic aperture radar(SAR) is a side-looking imaging radar usually operating on either an aircraft or a spacecraft. The radar transmits a series of short, coherent pulses to the ground producing a footprint whose size is inversely proportional to the antenna size, its aperture. Because the antenna size is generally small, the footprint is large and any particular target is illuminated by several hundred radar pulses. Intensive signal processing involving the detection of small Doppler shifts in the reflected signals from targets to the moving radar produces a high resolution image that is equivalent to one that would have been collected by a radar with a much larger aperture. 4, record 1, English, - C%2Dband%20synthetic%20aperture%20radar

Uncertainty about the future, then, is at the same time uncertainty about institutional complementarity, to the extent that complementarity is measured by economic performance... MDV determines whether the majority of military traffic, which often moves very slowly, will be visible. To capture the majority of this traffic, a radar must have the ability to detect the lowest possible radial velocity. As a target's radial velocity approaches zero, the target will fall into the clutter or "blind zone. "The clutter spread is a function of a radar's antenna real bandwidth. When a target is in clutter, traditional MTI [moving target indicator] radars can either detect the target or locate it, but not both. 1, record 27, English, - minimum%20detectable%20velocity

Synthetic aperture radar techniques rely on motion of the radar system relative to the target. For SAR, the motion is assumed to be produced by a moving radar system against a stationary target. Doppler lidar is used to measure the velocity of a target. When the light transmitted from the lidar hits a target moving towards or away from the lidar, the wavelength of the light reflected/scattered off the target will be changed slightly. This is known as a Doppler shift-hence Doppler Lidar. If the target is moving away from the lidar, the return light will have a longer wavelength(sometimes referred to as a red shift), if moving towards the lidar the return light will be at a shorter wavelength(blue shifted). The target can be either a hard target or an atmospheric target-the atmosphere contains many microscopic dust and aerosol particles which are carried by the wind. 3, record 36, English, - Doppler%20lidar

Tracking tasks focus on motor activities as distinct from perceptual or cognitive activities to perform the task the subject aligns a marker with a target. The marker may be the subject's own finger or, more usually, a cursor or pointer operated using a control such as a joystick, handwheel or keyboard. The target may be a series of lights which illuminate in random order, or a moving line on a screen. Tracking tasks are often visual by may be auditory or tactile. Every tracking task is jointly controlled by the subject and the system and, whatever the configuration, data is gathered on the speed and accuracy of the subject's responses to changes in the status of the target. Tracking tasks are characterized in three ways : 1. pursuit vs compensatory tracking, 2. system-paced vs subject-paced tracking, 3. step vs continuous input tracking. 1, record 60, English, - tracking%20task

(...), the MTD [Moving Target Detection] principle involves dividing up the entire radar coverage area into small range-azimuth cells-(...) called ’coherent processing intervals’(CPI). Eight pulses generated at a constant repetition frequency are assigned to each cell, and each return is subjected to Doppler filtering over a range of velocity values. The particular feature of MTD is its ability to measure the density of clutter and to detect the sudden presence of an additional element-such as an aircraft moving into a particular cell-even though it may have zero relative velocity on account of its tangential track. 1, record 71, English, - coherent%20processing%20interval

1, record 71, French, - intervalle%20de%20traitement%20coh%C3%A9rent
