The New Brunswick Arts Board(NBAB) was established in 1989 as part of the New Brunswick government's fine arts policy; the New Brunswick Arts Board Act was assented to on November 9, 1990, and came into force June 13, 1991. This act was amended in 1999(An Act to Amend the New Brunswick Arts Board Act) in order to extend the autonomy and areas of responsibilities of the New Brunswick Art Board. Le Conseil des arts du Nouveau-Brunswick (CANB) fut établi en 1989 dans le cadre de la politique des beaux-arts du gouvernement du Nouveau-Brunswick. La Loi sur le Conseil des arts du Nouveau-Brunswick fut votée; le 9 novembre 1990 et entra en fonction le 13 juin 1991.
