The Atlantic Storm Prediction Centre(ASPC) provides timely and accurate weather forecasts, warnings and information to the residents of Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, New Brunswick, and Iles de la Madeleine. The Centre is staffed 24 hours a day, 365 days a year to reduce risks to Atlantic Canadians from high-impact weather and other weather related environmental hazards. The Centre is also responsible for an air quality forecast program and the marine and sea state forecasts for the maritime waters out to the 200 mile limit, including most of the Gulf of St. Lawrence. Le Centre de prévision des intempéries de la Région de l'Atlantique (CPIRA) fournit des prévisions météorologiques, des avertissements et des informations exacts et à jour aux résidents de la Nouvelle-Écosse, de l’Île-du-Prince-Édouard, du Nouveau-Brunswick et des Îles-de-la-Madeleine. The New Brunswick Weather Centre(NBWC) is located in a downtown Fredericton setting, alongside the scenic Saint John River. The staff of ten shift workers and three day workers deliver a wide variety of weather related and air quality information to its clientele. Being the only bilingual Weather Centre in Atlantic Canada, the NBWC is also responsible for the dissemination of French weather information to all four Atlantic provinces.
