A new service, IECC-INTERGEN, helps teachers and their classrooms create intergenerational partnerships with volunteers who are over 50 years of age. Created in 1992 by three professors from St. Olaf College in Minnesota, IECC was one of the first services on the Web to facilitate international pen-pal exchanges between teachers and classrooms around the globe.

The Orbiter Docking System(ODS)... provided a means to connect and disconnect the shuttle with the Russian Space Station Mir. It is now used on the International Space Station(ISS). The ODS also allows for transfer of crew and equipment between the shuttle and the ISS [International Space Station]. One of the major components of the ODS is the Russian androgynous peripheral docking assembly(APDA), which automatically docks the shuttle after contact is made. For ISS missions, the ODS is a fully functional airlock complete with spacesuit services and new communications.

A steel line, attached to the head of the tool and to a winch on the other end of the pipe, keeps the line tight and helps guide the tool. As the pipe burster hammers through old pipe, the expander moves broken fragments and dirt out of the way to make room for new pipe, which is attached to the back of the tool and follows it into the void. After the new pipe is in place, crews connect service laterals at specified locations.

Nottale proposes an extension of the principle of relativity upon which the setting of a spatio-temporal theory of microphysics could be founded. He shows that some of the main properties of the quantum world, i. e. the Heisenberg uncertainty relations, may be deduced from the geometric structures of a new space-time whose metrics would depend on spatio-temporal resolutions. The theory may be worked out due to the introduction of a new mathematical tool, the fractal derivative, which allows one to connect the concepts of presence probability and metric potentials.
