Record number: 1, Textual support number: 1 OBS
The non-simultaneous, uncontrolled and highly irregular detonation of all or some of the HE [high explosive] components of nuclear weapons. Such erratic HE detonation, resulting from impact shocks or exposure to fires, lacks the squeeze or implosion necessary to produce a nuclear yield detonation. The term implies the normal consequence of exposure of nuclear weapons to impacts or fire, namely, a detonation of a portion of the HE content of the weapon, in turn resulting in a scattering of the remaining HE as well as the fissile material. 2, record 1, English, - one%2Dpoint%20detonation

Record number: 1, Textual support number: 1 OBS
1, record 1, French, - explosion%20en%20un%20seul%20point

Pu-240 spoils the detonation because it is a prolific neutron emitter and thus it causes premature detonation resulting in a weak and unpredictable yield. As an experiment, Los Alamos weapons designers did make a bomb based on the type of plutonium recoverable from civilian nuclear waste, but it proved very weak and unreliable. 2, record 3, English, - neutron%20emitter
