A system oriented toward defense of ICBMs. It was composed of traditional exoatmospheric components(the PAR phased-array radar and the Spartan long-range, nuclear-armed interceptor) and traditional terminal defense components(the MSR phased-array radar and the Sprint high-acceleration, nuclear-armed interceptor). This system was developed, extensively tested, and deployed at Grand Forks, North Dakota, in the late 1960s and early 1970s. It has subsequently been deactivated.

A traditional terminal defense system oriented toward defense of ICBMs. It used phased-array radars, called Site Defense Radars, and a high-acceleration, nuclear-armed interceptor, the Sprint. The system was studied extensively in the mid-1970s, as a follow-on to Safeguard and as a hedge against Soviet breakout from the ABM TREATY. The Site Defense Radar was developed and tested.

The system uses a phased-array radar and a high-acceleration, nuclear-armed interceptor(either Sprint or a new interceptor called Sentry). This system was studied in the late 1970s and early 1980s, and component development is under way. Essentially the same system was known as the Low-Altitude Defense System(LoADS) in the late 1970s.
