What is uranium enrichment? Enrichment is a process that increases the capacity of uranium to fuel a nuclear chain reaction, either for use in nuclear power plants or for nuclear weapons. Uranium primarily occurs naturally as two isotopes : 99. 3% is uranium-238 and 0. 7% is uranium-235. Their atoms are identical except for the number of neutrons in the nucleus : uranium-238 has three more and this makes it less able to fission. Uranium enrichment is used to increase the percentage of the fissile U-235. 2, record 1, English, - uranium%20enrichment

El enriquecimiento de uranio es el proceso al cual es sometido el uranio natural para obtener el isótopo 235U conocido como uranio enriquecido. El uranio natural se compone principalmente del isótopo 238U, con una proporción en peso de alrededor del 0,7 % de 235U, el único isótopo en cantidad apreciable existente en la naturaleza que es fisionable mediante neutrones térmicos. Durante el enriquecimiento, el contenido porcentual de 235U en el uranio natural se incrementa gracias al proceso de separación de isótopos. 1, record 1, Spanish, - enriquecimiento%20de%20uranio

For all we know electrons and quarks are elementary particles, which means that in no experiment has there anything like a structure of these particles been seen. They appear point-like, unlike the proton, neutron, nucleus and atom that have sizes that can be measured. It is, of course, entirely possible that particles that are called elementary today shall turn out to be composite; let it be said though that they have been probed quite extensively.... The aim is to know all about them, their properties and their interactions. The idea is that from this nuclear physics, atomic physics, chemistry, in fact, the whole physical world derives. Thus particles and their interactions are the very fundamentals of nature. That is the view now. An elementary particle physicist studies primarily these elementary particles and not the larger structures such as protons, nuclei or atoms. 1, record 5, English, - elementary%20particle%20physicist

[A] thermonuclear bomb, also called hydrogen bomb, or H-bomb, [is a] weapon whose enormous explosive power results from an uncontrolled self-sustaining chain reaction in which isotopes of hydrogen combine under extremely high temperatures to form helium in a process known as nuclear fusion. The high temperatures that are required for the reaction are produced by the detonation of an atomic bomb. A thermonuclear bomb differs fundamentally from an atomic bomb in that it utilizes the energy released when two light atomic nuclei combine, or fuse, to form a heavier nucleus. 4, record 23, English, - hydrogen%20bomb

After the DNA [deoxyribonucleic acid] vaccine is administered, the DNA contained in the vaccine is transcribed into RNA [ribonucleic acid] in a cell without entering the nucleus. The RNA is then translated to produce antigens that will stimulate the immune response. Since the vaccine does not contain the whole virus, it does not cause infection. 6, record 26, English, - deoxyribonucleic%20acid%20vaccine

Messenger RNA(mRNA) is a single-stranded RNA molecule that is complementary to one of the DNA strands of a gene. The mRNA is an RNA version of the gene that leaves the cell nucleus and moves to the cytoplasm where proteins are made. During protein synthesis, an organelle called a ribosome moves along the mRNA, reads its base sequence, and uses the genetic code to translate each three-base triplet, or codon, into its corresponding amino acid. 5, record 27, English, - messenger%20ribonucleic%20acid

Record number: 31, Textual support number: 1 CONT
Elementary particles can be described in terms of a few simple properties. The most obvious of these are the mass and electric charge of the particle. ... There is a ... property which all particles carry, quantum mechanical spin. The name spin comes from an analogy with classical electro-magnetics. In classical electromagnetic theory, it is well known that a charged particle that is moving through a magnetic field will be deflected. If the particle ... is spinning about some axis the deflection will be changed; i.e. the particle will go in a different direction than if it wasn’t spinning. The effect will depend on both the rate of spin and the rotation axis. In quantum mechanics, a similar effect is observed with any quantum particle. When passed through magnetic fields, they behave as if they are spinning electric charges. What’s more, they behave as if their rates of spin are integral 0, 1, 2, ... or half-integral (1/2, 3/2, ...) of a base unit ... much like charges come in basic multiples of the electron’s charge. The concept of spin here is a bit more abstract than in the classical case. With a classical particle you can paint a little dot on the particle ... and directly measure the rotation rate by counting the number of times you see the spot in a minute. This is not possible for quantum particles. They are not little spinning balls in that sense. 1, record 31, English, - quantum%20mechanical%20spin

1, record 52, French, - noyau%20fertile

ANSI X3. 23-1985 defines Cobol in terms of modules and their individual level of implementation(i. e. 1 or 2). The modules are combined into three subsets identified as "minimum", "intermediate", and "high". There are also four additional modules, each of which is optional. These are "report writer", "inter-program communication", "debug", and "segmentation". The "minimum" subset is composed of all language elements of level 1 of the "nucleus", "sequential I-O", and "inter-program communication". The "intermediate" subset is composed of all language elements of level 1 of all required modules. The "high" subset is composed of all language elements of the highest level of all required modules. The optional modules, at any level, may be associated with any of the subsets. 1, record 63, English, - intermediate%20subset

At the nuclear level, binding energy is also equal to the energy liberated when a nucleus is created from other nucleons or nuclei. This nuclear binding energy(binding energy of nucleons into a nuclide) is derived from the nuclear force(residual strong interaction) and is the energy required to disassemble a nucleus into the same number of free, unbound neutrons and protons it is composed of, so that the nucleons are far/distant enough from each other [and] the nuclear force can no longer cause the particles to interact. 4, record 67, English, - nuclear%20binding%20energy

Somatic cell nuclear transfer(SCNT) cloning... is accomplished by taking two cells – an egg cell from a female and a somatic cell from the person or animal to be cloned. The nucleus of the egg cell is removed and discarded. The nucleus from the somatic cell is then transferred to the [enucleated] egg cell. The egg cell and its new nucleus are fused together with the expectation it will grow. If cell division and growth is accomplished, the clone's life has begun. 3, record 79, English, - somatic%20cell%20nuclear%20transfer%20cloning
