Subject field(s)
  • Chemistry
DEF

... a ring of six atoms of carbon with alternate double bonds between the carbon atoms ...

OBS

This structure is found in benzene and many other compounds derived from benzene, in which one or more of the hydrogen atoms may be replaced by other atoms or radicals to form various derivatives.

OBS

benzene nucleus : In some cases, the use of the noun "nucleus" may suggest that the ring as been substituted, i. e. that at least one of its atoms has been replaced by another atom or atom group.

French

Domaine(s)
  • Chimie
DEF

CONT

Ring sideroblasts are erythroblasts with iron-loaded mitochondria visualized by Prussian blue staining(Perls’ reaction) as a perinuclear ring of blue granules.... The International Working Group on Morphology of Myelodysplastic Syndrome(IWGM-MDS) recommended that ring sideroblasts be defined as erythroblasts in which there are a minimum of five siderotic granules covering at least one third of the circumference of the nucleus. Ring sideroblasts are found exclusively in pathological conditions, and should not be confused with ferritin sideroblasts, which are present in normal bone marrow.... While the iron of ferritin sideroblasts is stored in cytosolic ferritin, whose subunits are encoded by the FTH1 and FTL genes, the iron of ring sideroblasts is stored in mitochondrial ferritin, encoded by the FTMT gene.

CONT

Subject field(s)
  • Chemistry
  • Atomic Physics
DEF

A model of atomic nucleus based on concept of similarity between structure of energetic levels in nucleus to structure of electron shells in atom.

OBS

Energy levels of nucleus are arranged in groups. Levels within a particular group do not differ greatly in energy and belong to one shell.

French

Domaine(s)
  • Chimie
  • Physique atomique
DEF

PHR

Théorie du modèle en couche des noyaux.

Subject field(s)
  • Morphology and General Physiology
CONT

Animals in this group received implantations of their own genetically modified fibroblasts(i. e. autografts) into the Nucleus Basalis of Meynert(NBM). The NBM was chosen as an injection site because it contains NGF-responsive cholinergic cell bodies(Mandel et al. 1989), permitting assessment of responses of intact cholinergic neurites to NGF-secreting of control cells.

French

Domaine(s)
  • Morphologie et physiologie générale
CONT

Subject field(s)

OBS

Next to the long-period variables(...), the most common variable stars are the "RR Lyrae" stars, named for RR Lyrae, best known member of the group.(...) Almost all of them are found in the nucleus or the corona of our Galaxy or in globular clusters. In fact, nearly all globular clusters contain at least a few RR Lyrae variables, and some contain hundreds; these stars, therefore, are sometimes called "cluster-type" variables. The periods of RR Lyrae stars are less than 1 day; most periods fall in the range 0. 3 to 0. 7 day.(...) They are of spectral classes A or F.

French

Domaine(s)
  • Astronomie
OBS
