A range of values below and above the point estimate that has a given probability of including the true value of a given parameter, such as a treatment effect. 3, record 3, English, - confidence%20interval
Record number: 3, Textual support number: 1 OBS
The confidence interval is the area of uncertainty for the estimating of a parameter. The use of this interval reflects the fact that a study provides one estimate of a parameter, out of the many estimates that would be possible if the study were repeated several times. If an X% CI is constructed for each repetition, X% of the intervals will contain the true value of the parameter. Investigators typically use confidence intervals of 90%, 95% or 99%. Thus, a 95% confidence interval indicates that there is a 95% probability that the confidence interval calculated from a particular study includes the true value of the parameter. If the interval includes a null value(a difference in means of 0, an odds ratio or a relative risk of 1, or a correlation coefficient of 0, for example), the null hypothesis cannot be rejected. A narrow confidence interval around a point estimate indicates a more precise estimate than a wide confidence interval. 3, record 3, English, - confidence%20interval
Record number: 3, Textual support number: 2 OBS
The validity of the confidence interval depends upon knowledge of the underlying distribution of the population or assumptions about behavior of the sampling distribution. 4, record 3, English, - confidence%20interval

Record number: 3, Textual support number: 1 OBS
3, record 3, French, - intervalle%20de%20confiance

The leaf cells contain various organic and inorganic solutes, which determine the leaf osmotic potential(OP). OP is generally lower(more negative) than LWP [leaf water potential] and the difference between the two is turgor potential. Turgor is lost(null value) when LWP=OP... Leaf turgor is associated with cellular growth and function. When turgor becomes null cells collapse and the leaf wilts, though it is not dead. Stomata are responsive(among other factors) to turgor, closing to reduce transpiration. 2, record 5, English, - turgor%20potential

The total water potential, which describes the energy of the water contained in the plant can be estimated from leaf water potential (LWP) measurements, by the use of the pressure bomb in salinity studies. The major components of LWP are leaf osmotic potential (LOP) and leaf turgor potential (LTP). Leaf water potential and leaf osmotic potential can be measured directly by the use of the pressure bomb and the vapor pressure osmometer, respectively. The LTP can be estimated by the equation LTP = LWP - LOP. 2, record 8, English, - leaf%20osmotic%20potential

Leaf water potential and leaf osmotic potential were measured on the same leaves. Both parameters were measured on leaf discs by the thermocouple psychrometric method ... The osmotic potential was measured after the sample (leaf disc) had been frozen over dry ice, thawed, and macerated with a small glass rod. The sap extract was then immediately placed on a filter paper disc in the C-52 sample chamber and its value of osmotic potential determined (Turner, 1981). 3, record 8, English, - leaf%20osmotic%20potential

2, record 17, French, - axe%20de%20r%C3%A9f%C3%A9rence%20de%20rotation
