DEF

[A] device which performs a fixed unitary operation on selected qubits in a fixed period of time.

CONT

In quantum computing and specifically the quantum circuit model of computation, a quantum logic gate(or simply quantum gate) is a basic quantum circuit operating on a small number of qubits. They are the building blocks of quantum circuits, like classical logic gates are for conventional digital circuits.

DEF

CONT

Waterless urinals don’t flush, they drain by gravity. Their outflow pipes connect to a building's existing plumbing system. Besides the water savings, with waterless urinals, no limescale is deposited within the plumbing. Deodorization is the number one maintenance issue that waterless urinals face. However, filters, urinal blocks and other deodorization methods can control how the urine is disposed of during the draining process.

DEF

A technique for computing a simultaneous least squares adjustment of a large data set by grouping the data into smaller pieces, called "blocks", and producing the complete covariance matrix used in calculating the local and network accuracies.

CONT

Helmert blocking, which was developed a little over 100 years ago by F. R. Helmert (Helmert 1880) is basically a technique for breaking up a least squares adjustment problem, which is too large to be managed as a single computation, into many smaller computational tasks with potentially large savings in computer storage and CPU requirements.

OBS

For this adjustment, the blocks were named by state and every GPS [global positioning system] project was assigned to a specific state block. This resulted in some data collected in one state appearing in another state Block but prevented splitting sessions of observations and minimizing junction points. Blocks are combined two at a time, reducing the number of station coordinates to be estimated to only those stations that are associated with GPS observations belonging to other blocks. Eventually only one block remains and a solution for the coordinates of its stations can be performed.

CONT

Scriptlets are very small scripts, in essence they are detailed instructions on how to accomplish some small piece of a much larger plan of action. The skills we refer to when we ask about people’s abilities almost always refer to scriptlets. We acquire scriptlets when we learn by doing.

CONT

Courses, however, ought to be no more than a collection of scriptlets to be acquired. That is, if real knowledge comes from doing, and scriptlets are what are acquired in doing, then any course should be no more than, and no less than, a set of experiences that allow students to acquire a scriptlet in the natural way scriptlets are acquired; that is, by practice.

CONT

All programming(for sequential, digital computers, at least) is, by definition, procedural. But there's a difference between a procedural application and application procedures. The former term refers to a(possibly large and typically unique) interconnected tapestry of instructions, while the latter identifies a cluster of logical components, which can become building blocks for any number of different programs. This separate and independent, or modular, nature of the procedures makes programming easier to write and easier to debug and maintain.

The length of the message is the number of bits in the message(the empty message has length 0). If the number of bits in a message is a multiple of 8, for compactness we can represent the message in hex. The purpose of message padding is to make the total length of a padded message a multiple of 512. The SHA-1 sequentially processes blocks of 512 bits when computing the message digest.

OBS

Padding. In cryptography, the additional characters added to a plaintext message, to ensure that its length is an integral number of blocks for encryption by a block cipher.

WEST's coaching principles(see figure 7. 5) provide good examples of didactic constraints in the form of pedagogical principles and of felicity conditions that reflect the needs of students. Another type of didactic constraint is provided by sequencing schemes(ex. simple to complex, focused to diversified, breadth versus focus, web versus linear, prerequisites first, important first, compiled to articulate, following logical structure, causal, teleological). The didactic base may also contains a large repertoire of local and global didactic techniques which they call teaching "routines" and "agendas"(Leinhardt and Greeno, 1986) or "tactics" and 'strategies"(Ohlsson, 1987a) These techniques can be very general(i. e., correction by counterexample), domain-specific(e. g., use of Dienes blocks for teaching decimal number representation), or even specific to classes of students(e. g., different age groups).

Complete enumeration is a reasonable method of proof of a general observation if the number of alternatives to be examined is not too large. For example, the statement "There are four blocks on the table" can easily be verified by counting the blocks.
