The machine may be called single-bed or double-bed knitting machine on the basis of the number of needle beds. The aircraft classification number is calculated with respect to the center of gravity(CG) position which yields the critical loading on the critical gear. Normally the aftmost CG position appropriate to the maximum gross apron(ramp) mass is used to calculate the ACN. In exceptional cases the forwardmost CG position may result in the nose gear loading being more critical. 2, record 9, English, - aircraft%20classification%20number

ACNs are expressed on a scale from approximately 5(least demanding aircraft) to 110(most demanding aircraft). ACNs are applicable only to aircraft having an apron(ramp) mass equal to or greater than 12 600 lb. ACNs have been assigned to present-day aircraft at their maximum and minimum operating masses/weights and at a specific tire pressure. The ACN should not exceed the pavement classification number(PCN) for unrestricted aircraft operations. Many enzymes, especially the more common ones, are known by short trivial names that usually end in the suffix-ase. However, this can lead to confusion, hence the use of a specific name according to the rules of the international enzyme classification system is preferable. This system provides both a systematic name and a four-part classification number. The first number of the code places the enzyme into one of six groups, indicating the type of reaction involved.

Hierarchical classification. Classifiers utilizing hierarchical, or sequential, architectures generally perform well for remote sensing applications. Typically, when discriminating land cover types, there is a benefit to separating the data into general groupings rather than specific classes, as well as to removing those classes which are easily separable from the rest. This multiscale framework in terms of class separability reduces the complexity of the classifier, both in terms of training and decision making. This is because the classifier does not need to distinguish between all classes, just one class(or a few) from the rest. By employing a hierarchical classifier, different inputs can be used at each level of the overall classification process depending on the classes to be discriminated. This then allows for a possible reduction in the number of inputs, or for the use of class specific data such as topography, at a given level. The described benefits of a hierarchical architecture generally lead to an increase in classification accuracy.... A hierarchical version of the above MRF-based classifier was developed to account for the class dependent variation in backscatter associated with changes in incidence angle. A methodology for "correcting" SAR data according to class-specific models is described and is then presented as the first level in the architecture of the hierarchical classifier. 3, record 28, English, - hierarchical%20classification

The alternative to depending on training sites for classification is to apply the concept of signature extension. This term refers to the assumption that a single, more or less constant, spectral signature may be defined as characteristic of any class, and that this signature has broad(universal) applicability to any scene in a region, or even worldwide. As a specific example, the signature for winter wheat at its maturation should be essentially the same for fields in the U. S. Great Plains, Argentina, the Ukraine, and Australia-provided such variables as differing air masses, Sun position, soil types, soil moisture, etc. are compensated for. If that proves true, then an unknown feature or class in a given scene anywhere should be classifiable by comparing its spectral properties(for a Landsat pixel, its multiband digital number [DN] values) to a "data bank" containing standard values for each of many classes. The closest fit of the unknown's DN [digital number] values to those of some one class in the bank is assumed to identify it. 3, record 41, English, - signature%20extension

Steroid hormones can be grouped in various classes according to a number of criteria. Based on their chemical structure they can belong to one of the classes(series) mentioned above(e. g. Cloud classification. A system... based on the system proposed by Luke Howard, a London pharmacist, in 1803. Howard divided clouds into three fundamental forms : stratus(sheet or layer clouds), cumulus(heaped-up clouds), and cirrus(fibrous or tufty clouds). The form nimbus was also added to indicate a rain cloud, but is now used only in composite forms, e. g. cumulonimbus.... Clouds are also classified into the height-based categories of low(up to 2 km), medium(2 km to 6 km), and high(above 6 km), with examples in each category being, respectively, cirrus, altocumulus, and stratus. The official International Classification scheme assigns a number to nine types of clouds. These are(ranging from high to low altitude types) :(0) cirrus,(1) cirrocumulus,(2) cirrostratus,(3) altocumulus,(4) altostratus,(5) nimbostratus,(6) stratocumulus,(7) stratus,(8) cumulus,(9) cumulonimbus. 3, record 49, English, - cloud%20classification

Fiber Length. Traditionally, the fiber length distribution or weighted average fiber length of a pulp sample has been determined either by microscopic examination of a representative number of fibers, by means of a special drainage grid, or by screen classification of a sample into different length fractions.... In the classification method, a dilute suspension of fibers is made to flow at high velocity parallel to screen slots, while a much slower velocity passes through the slots. In this way, the fibers are presented lengthwise to a series of selected screens with successively smaller mesh openings, and only the fibers short enough to bridge the openings pass into the next chamber.
