OBS

Police statistics on crime were first published in Canada in 1921 as a section of Criminal Statistics, 1920. These statistics were provided in the early years by only a small and incomplete number of municipal police forces. Over the ensuing four decades, there was a gradual increase in the number of police forces reporting and in the detail of the figures they reported. These statistics did not at all provide a full picture of crime or law enforcement in Canada, and were not comparable from year to year until 1 January 1962, when the Uniform Crime Reporting(UCR) System commenced. This system was developed by the Dominion Bureau of Statistics in concert with the Canadian Association of Chiefs of Police, Committee on the Uniform Recording of Police Statistics. The UCR system was designed to provide more complete, accurate, and standardized(comparable) statistics on crime and police activity in Canada than had previously been possible.

U.S. delivery system stationed in Europe and capable of carrying nuclear bombs against targets in the Soviet Union.

A term introduced by the U. S. S. R. to refer to U. S. nuclear systems that have less than intercontinental range but which, because of their location, could reach targets in the Soviet Union. The U. S. S. R. regards these as strategic and tried unsuccessfully to get them covered first by Salt 1 and then in negotiations on theatre nuclear forces. It sought ’compensation’ for FBS's by being permitted to possess a large number of central systems in her arsenal. In Canada, a Special Threat Assessment Group(STAG) was formed in 1976 as an interdepartmental committee to assess, prevent, contain or otherwise assist in the response to terrorist threats and incidents involving the use of nuclear, biological, or chemical agents. It is capable of providing on-site advice and technical assistance in isolating, containing, and assessing the hazard; providing any necessary first aid and removal of casualties; collecting and packaging samples for later analysis; and supervising decontamination or clean-up operations. It has conducted a number of exercises and co-operative training with the RCMP and other authorities, and would be activated upon a request from the federal Solicitor General.

The CSIRO briquetting process, which does not use any binders, was recently tested... Our process uses low temperatures and low pressures. When coal particles are brought into contact with each other the particles are held together by very weak electro-dynamic forces. In binderless briquetting the aim is to bring the particles together in such a way that a very large number of these weak forces occur, resulting in a large total bond between the particles.

Les déchets métalliques (limailles, tournures) seront également agglomérés avant d'être envoyés à l'appareil métallurgique.

Speed-attitude correction is provided by the Mach trim compensation system. Mach trim compensation automatically provides forces to the control column(elevator) to compensate for nosedown pitching moments of the airplane at high Mach number. Control column position is effected by the Mach trim actuator installed at the lower part of the first officer's control column control mechanism. The actuator receives command signals from the stability augmentation computer. Mach number is computed from pitot and static air pressure input changes to the air data computer(ADC-1). The air data computer shapes the information and transmits it to the stability augmentation computer where it is further shaped and then transmitted to the actuator to command control column and elevator movement.
