  • Titles of Federal Government Programs (Canadian)
  • Plant and Crop Production
  • Horticulture
OBS

The CNCP is a phytosanitary certification program for Canadian nurseries and greenhouses that ship nursery stock to the United States(U. S.) or to other Certified Facilities(CF) within Canada. The CNCP uses a Phytosanitary Management System(PSMS) to minimize pest risks so that plants consistently meet U. S. import requirements. The program offers an alternative to traditional phytosanitary certification for shipments to the U. S.

OBS

This beetle has been found in about a half dozen species of apparently healthy nursery stock as well as infesting native eastern red cedar, Juniperus virginiana.

DEF

A plant that grows well in container either from seed as a starting point during winter or for inexperienced urban gardeners who have limited or no garden space.

CONT

It is possible to run a tree nursery by growing seedlings of many species in containers, In large commercial nurseries, container-grown stock often include evergreens such as holly and yew, and ornamental trees such as garden cultivars of native species. Containerised plants do not have a large root-ball, and, with the exception of evergreens, should be treated as for bare-rooted stock and planted only in the dormant season.

CONT

Conteneurs.

Collected stock consists of native materials collected from woodlands, crowded estates, fields or parks. Stock collected from the wild normally includes large trees - 18 inches in diameter at breast height (DBH) or larger. Good specimens of larger DBH are seldom available from nurseries; thus collected stock is used. Collected stock, because of its larger size, creates an instant landscape.
