Researchers identify coercive controlling violence by the pattern of power and control in which it is embedded... The Power and Control Wheel... provides a useful graphical representation of the major forms of control that constitute coercive controlling violence : intimidation; emotional abuse; isolation; minimizing, denying, and blaming; use of children; asserting male privilege; economic abuse; and coercion and threats... Abusers do not necessarily use all of these tactics, but they do use a combination of the ones that they feel are most likely to work for them. Because these nonviolent control tactics may be effective without the use of violence(especially if there has been a history of violence in the past), coercive controlling violence does not necessarily manifest itself in high levels of violence.

Nonlinear models differ from linear ones in a number of ways. Rather than trying to figure out all the chains of causality, the modeler looks for nodes where feedback loops join and tries to capture as many of the important loops as possible in the system's "picture". Rather than shaping the model to make a forecast about future events or to exercise some central control, the nonlinear modeler is content to perturb the model, trying out different variables in order to learn about the system's critical point and its homeostasis(resistance to change). The modeler is not seeking to control the complex system by quantifying it and mastering its causality;(s) he wants to increase her "intuitions" about how the system works so(s) he can interact with it more harmoniously.

In learner-centred instruction, learners direct and control various aspects of their learning(e. g. learning outcomes, choice of group members), with instructors in the background providing advice and general guidelines on resources and procedures. Various means of online learning support include :-Learning guides(e. g. generic ones on study and research skills or specific guides on how to complete a particular online course).-Online mentors and buddies who facilitate, coach or guide learners through the course.-Online personal learning portfolios(e. g. learners’ journals, personal learning logs) to promote self-reflection(a critical component of learner-centred instruction).-Online public learning portfolios to encourage peer review and feedback on each other's work.

The world depicted by nanowriters goes beyond cybernetic mind control and downloading one's brain into a computer. It postulates ultimate control over matter. "It seems like nanotech has become the magic potion, the magic dust that allows anything to happen with a pseudoscientific explanation, "says Istvan Csicsery-Ronay, Jr., an editor of the journal Science-Fiction Studies, published by DePauw University.

OBS
