Researchers identify coercive controlling violence by the pattern of power and control in which it is embedded... The Power and Control Wheel... provides a useful graphical representation of the major forms of control that constitute coercive controlling violence : intimidation; emotional abuse; isolation; minimizing, denying, and blaming; use of children; asserting male privilege; economic abuse; and coercion and threats... Abusers do not necessarily use all of these tactics, but they do use a combination of the ones that they feel are most likely to work for them. Because these nonviolent control tactics may be effective without the use of violence(especially if there has been a history of violence in the past), coercive controlling violence does not necessarily manifest itself in high levels of violence. 3, record 2, English, - coercive%20controlling%20violence

Nonlinear models differ from linear ones in a number of ways. Rather than trying to figure out all the chains of causality, the modeler looks for nodes where feedback loops join and tries to capture as many of the important loops as possible in the system's "picture". Rather than shaping the model to make a forecast about future events or to exercise some central control, the nonlinear modeler is content to perturb the model, trying out different variables in order to learn about the system's critical point and its homeostasis(resistance to change). The modeler is not seeking to control the complex system by quantifying it and mastering its causality;(s) he wants to increase her "intuitions" about how the system works so(s) he can interact with it more harmoniously. 1, record 7, English, - nonlinear%20model

Caution :"restraint" and "constraint" are only synonyms if they are used figuratively to denote the means of preventing one from doing something, such as in the expressions "social constraints" or "social restraints". In other instances, because of the quirks of usage, they cannot be used interchangeably. "Restraint", in particular, is a highly polysemous term. It can denote a device that restricts movement(=restraining device) ;it can denote the control over one's expression, emotions or urges, i. e. moderation(DE : Mäßigung) in addition to the figurative definition already cited above. "Constraint" is strictly an abstract term and can have the same figurative meaning as "restraint" cited above or it can have the slightly stronger meaning of repressing(and not simply controlling) one's own feelings, behavior, or actions. 2, record 14, English, - restraint

"Restraint" and "constraint" are quasi-synonyms. Because of usage they cannot be used interchangeably. "Restraint", in particular, is a polysemous term. It can denote a device that restricts movement; it can denote the control over one's expression or emotions or it can denote the series of actions taken to immobilize someone or something. "Constraint", on the other hand, is simply the state of being restricted, or compelled to avoid or perform some action or it can be the repression(and not simply control) of one's own feelings, behavior, or actions. 4, record 15, English, - restraint

Online learning support is an integral part of the online learning process in guiding learners and providing feedback(Coomey & Stephenson, 2001; Oliver, 2001). In learner-centred instruction, learners direct and control various aspects of their learning(e. g. learning outcomes, choice of group members), with instructors in the background providing advice and general guidelines on resources and procedures. Various means of online learning support include :-Learning guides(e. g. generic ones on study and research skills or specific guides on how to complete a particular online course).-Online mentors and buddies who facilitate, coach or guide learners through the course.-Online personal learning portfolios(e. g. learners’ journals, personal learning logs) to promote self-reflection(a critical component of learner-centred instruction).-Online public learning portfolios to encourage peer review and feedback on each other's work. 1, record 22, English, - online%20learning%20support

Planimetric control. Segmentation is sometimes a ground step for correlation which approximates regions by plans, thus we have studied a way to control in 2D the planimetric differences between a reference and a segmentation outline. Various distances have been used for this purpose : Haussdorf distance from segmentation boundaries to reference ones seem to be the most appropriate. A recovering surface quality estimator has been tried and we have computed the ratio between intersection and union with respect to the both areas. It's the only affordable motion-base simulator that uses the flight model to control the motion... Other motion [simulators], even more expensive ones, use the control position to control motion FFS uses aircraft motion(accelerations, velocities and positions) in all axes and calculates the flight motion effect. We process this information in a way that allows us to match the magnitude, rate and washout of the actual flight motion experienced in the aircraft type being flown... 4, record 26, English, - full%20flight%20simulator
