2, record 1, French, - saison%20d%27%C3%A9clipse

The crust and upper mantle of the Earth are made up of about a dozen large plates and several smaller ones that are constantly moving. The movements are very slow-only a few centimetres per year. Where the plates rub against one another, strain builds up, especially at the edges. When the strength of the rock is exceeded, the Earth's crust may break and suddenly shift by several metres, causing an earthquake. 6, record 2, English, - tectonic%20plate

A "RAW Signal Data" product contains raw or unprocessed radar video baseband data in complex in-phase and quadrature signal(I and Q) format as they are recorded by the spacecraft. The only processing performed to the downlink X-band "raw signal data" is the frame synchronization, meaning re-assembly of the data into contiguous radar range lines in matrix form, and the CEOS [Committee on Earth Observations Satellite] formatting. Each range line of data is represented by one Signal Data Record in the RAW CEOS product. 2, record 3, English, - %5C%22raw%20signal%20data%5C%22%20product

The RAW product can contain any single beam mode, or for ScanSAR any combination of different beam modes, depending on the operation of the SAR instrument during the data reception or recording period. A RAW product cannot, however, combine data from more than one beam mode, i.e. data from two different beam modes are always packaged as two separate products. A RAW product must be SAR processed before it can be displayed as imagery. RAW products are typically produced on 8 mm (Exabyte) tapes. Friends of the Earth first proposed environmental certification/labelling of timber when it launched its rainforest campaign in 1985, and discussions on timber labelling initially related principally to tropical timber.... Governments and timber labelling schemes. Only one government-that of Austria-has attempted to establish a mandatory labelling scheme for timber. This scheme was initially intended to apply only to tropical products, and would have required a label to be placed on all tropical timber goods stating the country of origin and giving notice that the product was derived from a tropical forest source. After protests from a number of tropical countries, but particularly from Malaysia, the scheme was dropped, and replaced by a voluntary programme under which companies may apply to a special commission for a 'sustainability’ label for either tropical or non-tropical timber products. 1, record 7, English, - timber%20labelling

1, record 7, French, - %C3%A9tiquetage%20du%20bois

There is one other indicator that the earth is rotating in space. The fact that low pressure regions spin with an anticlockwise motion in the Southern hemisphere, yet in the Northern hemisphere(the high pressure regions) spin with an anticlockwise motion and vice versa raises the question as to what force is being exerted on these winds. Studies of rotating bodies show there is an apparent Coriolis acceleration, which acts sideways on moving objects. Only a Coriolis type acceleration seems to explain the earth's winds and this could only occur if the earth rotates. The fact that the wind direction is always constant is evidence of the earth's consistent rotation. 2, record 8, English, - apparent%20Coriolis%20acceleration

Coriolis (Gustave Gaspard). 2, record 8, French, - acc%C3%A9l%C3%A9ration%20apparente%20de%20Coriolis
