Floating wind power is no longer science fiction. Promising results from five test platforms operating worldwide-including three in Japan-are turning into project plans for a first generation of floating wind farms.... Putting wind turbines on offshore platforms akin to those developed for the petroleum industry provides a means of exploiting high-quality offshore winds-which are stronger and more consistent than onshore winds-in waters too deep for today's bottom-fixed foundations. 3, record 3, English, - floating%20wind%20power

2, record 3, French, - %C3%A9olien%20flottant

The prevailing winds in Sydney area are a combination of synoptic(pressure driven) flows and meso-scale(local) flows. The synoptic conditions are dominated by high pressure systems, moving air in a clockwise direction across Australia, from west to east, with an average period of six to seven days. In summer these high pressure systems are located to the south of Sydney, resulting in onshore synoptic winds. In winter these synoptic pressure systems shift north, following the movement of the sun to the northern hemisphere, resulting in westerly synoptic winds. The winter westerly winds have the greatest number of days when wind speeds exceed 40kph(Linacre, 1997). 1, record 6, English, - synoptic%20wind

3, record 6, French, - vent%20synoptique
Record number: 6, Textual support number: 1 OBS
2, record 6, French, - vent%20synoptique
