Precision airdrop allows aircraft to accurately deliver supplies while minimizing the risk and reducing the possibility of enemy detection of the intended DZ. Precision is achieved through improved mission planning software and steerable canopies. There are currently two types of precision airdrop under development. The first type of precision airdrop is a single system called AGAS (Affordable Guided Airdrop System) that uses in-service round cargo parachutes. ... The second type of precision airdrop is the Precision Guided Air Drop System (PGADS).

Current airdrop resources are complex systems that are tied to known high threat choke points, such as : Aerial Ports of Debarkation, Seaports of Debarkation, Drop Zones and Ground Lines of Communication. The Canadian Forces Electronic Warfare Centre(CFEWC) exists to deliver comprehensive EW support to CF military operations. CFEWC is endeavouring to be the expert authority on technical EW matters within the Canadian Forces. In 1990, the Electronic Warfare Operational Support Centre(EWOSC) project was initiated with the intent of consolidating operational, intelligence and engineering support to the CF EW community. Under the initial phase of the EWOSC project(IEWOSC), a centralized CF EW database was created, the environmental integrated support stations were established, EW threat analysis was begun and a common logistics and administrative support cell was stood up. The Canadian Forces Electronic Warfare Centre(CFEWC) was established to encompass these capabilities within facilities constructed at the Communication Research Canada(CRC)-Shirley's Bay Campus. The initial construction was completed in 1994. CFEWC is mandated with the maintenance and development of the CF Electronic Warfare Database(CFEWDB).

Le CGEFC s'efforce de s'affirmer comme autorité technique experte en matière de guerre électronique au sein des Forces canadiennes. En 1990, le projet du Centre de soutien opérationnel de guerre électronique (CSOGE) est lancé dans le but de regrouper le soutien opérationnel, technique et de renseignement assuré à la collectivité de guerre électronique (GE) des FC. Dans le cadre de la première phase du projet CSOGE, désignée le CSOGE intérimaire, une base de données centralisées de GE des FC a été constituée, des stations de soutien intégré pour les éléments ont été établies, l'analyse des menaces de GE a été entamée, et une cellule de soutien logistique et administratif commun a été mise sur pied. Le Centre de guerre électronique des Forces canadiennes (CGEFC) a été fondé pour regrouper toutes ces capacités sous un même toit, dans les installations construites au Centre de recherches sur les communications Canada (CRC), au campus de Shirley's Bay. Les travaux de construction s'achèvent en 1994. Le CGEFC a comme mandat la mise à jour et l'élaboration de la base de données de guerre électronique des FC (BDGEFC).

The US Navy's Fleet Satellite Communications System(FLTSATCOM) is a constellation of five operational satellites used by both the Navy and Air Force as well as the presidential command network. The system with a design life of five years, serves as a secure communications link between the three users. Each satellite has 23 communications channels, 10 of which are used by the Navy for communication between its land forces, ships and aircraft. The Air Force uses 12 of the channels as part of its satellite communications system for command and control of nuclear forces. One channel is reserved for US national command authorities.

FLTSATCOM systems feature a main transmitting antenna that is 11 feet in diameter and surrounded by wire mesh screen. The body itself is hexagonal and is 8 inches wide and 4 feet tall. Two improved satellites recently joined four FLTSATCOM originals in orbit to extend the operation of the system well into the 1990s. The new systems carry an experimental extra-high-frequency package as a testbed for terminals being developed for the Milstar communications system.
