Flat glass with a nearly true optical surface produced by floating a continuous sheet of molten glass on a bed of molten tin until the glass cools and hardens.

OBS

Float glass is the picture framing standard glass. After cooling the glass may be treated to control light reflections and increase ultraviolet light filtering properties.

[...] le «Float» est un verre cristal plat de base, qui, après certaines transformations et finitions est destiné au bâtiment et aux industries de l'automobile, de l'électroménager et du meuble, entre autres. Une vaste gamme de produits est fabriquée à partir du verre float, tels les verres laminés de sécurité, les verres réfléchissants de contrôle solaire SGG COOL-LITE et SGG ANTELIO et les miroirs MIRAGE et OPTIMIRROR, les doubles vitrages, les verres sérigraphiés, les verres trempés et d'autres.

OBS

La norme AFNOR NF B 32.001 précise : les mots «glace» et «verre» différencient uniquement les modes de fabrication des produits. On appelle «glace» un produit qui a subi un travail mécanique complémentaire (doucissage et polissage) destiné à dresser ses deux faces pour les rendre pratiquement planes et parallèles. On appelle «verre» un produit qui n'a reçu aucun travail de surface après refroidissement.

Photoplethysmograph. The name suggests that this device should measure volume by optical methods. In fact it is limited to detecting changes in blood perfusion in limbs and tissues.... As arterial pulsations fill the capillary bed the changes in volume of the blood vessels modify the absorption, reflection and scattering of the light.
