The Rocket Assembly/Checkout Facility... The facility consists of six contiguous laboratory modules subdivided into a storage area, a gray room area, and a clean room. The storage area houses spare instrument components and intermittently used ground support equipment. The gray room area contains facilities to clean components before they enter the clean room and equipment used to ship the instrument to WSMR [White Sands Mission Range]. The Class 100 cross-flow clean room is separated from the gray room by an air shower. The clean room contains three major stations : a clean bench for assembly of subsystems; a 12x14-ft optical bench for instrument assembly and electronic test of the instrument subsystems; and a vacuum chamber for vacuum focus and spectroradiometric calibration. The cryogenically pumped vacuum chamber is designed with a 30-cm diameter ultraviolet collimator at one end and a roll-off section that accommodates the entire flight instrument centered in the collimated beam at the other end. 2, record 5, English, - clean%20bench

Optical Head(OH). The OH is typically located outside the spacecraft and performs the critical functions of generating and pointing the transmit laser beam and acquiring and tracking the received beacon and receive laser beams. Major elements of the OH are :-Coarse pointing assembly used for steering the terminal line of sight.-Optical subsystem comprising telescope, optical bench and beacon collimator.-Fine pointing assembly(FPA) : This is a mechanism used in conjunction with the tracking sensor to provide the tracking function for the terminal.-Point ahead assembly(PAA) : This is similar to the FPA and is used to introduce the required point ahead offset to the transmit beam.-Acquisition sensor(AS) : This is a wide field of view sensor used during acquisition for the identification and location of the partner terminal.-Tracking sensor(TS) : This is a fast sensor that operates in a closed loop with the FPA. 2, record 6, English, - point%2Dahead%20assembly
