OVEN DRY WEIGHT [6 records]

Record 1 2023-06-26

English

Subject field(s)
  • Scientific Measurements and Analyses
  • Forage Crops
  • Animal Feed (Agric.)
CONT

Harvesting forage crops outside optimal dry matter(DM) ranges can set the stage for many challenges. Testing for DM content prior to harvest and ensiling is a critical step. DM is measured as weight difference between the forage fresh(as is) and dried in an oven, a microwave oven or using a Koster tester.

Key term(s)
  • dry-matter content

French

Domaine(s)
  • Mesures et analyse (Sciences)
  • Culture des plantes fourragères
  • Alimentation des animaux (Agric.)
CONT

Subject field(s)
  • Scientific Measurements and Analyses
  • Botany
CONT

Specific leaf weight(SLW, dry weight/unit leaf area)... Leaf areas were measured with a leaf area meter and the leaves were oven dried at 70°C for 48 hours for dry weight measurement.

CONT

[...] Méthodes indirectes. [...]

Subject field(s)
  • Treatment of Wood
DEF

The point in drying wood at which all free moisture has been removed from the cell itself while the cell wall remains saturated with absorbed moisture.

OBS

It usually is taken as 25% to 30% moisture content, based on oven dry weight.

  • Traitement des bois
DEF
