Omphalocele(exomphalos) is a developmental defect of the anterior abdominal wall in which the abdominal musculature, fascia, and skin are absent in the midline at the point of insertion of the umbilical cord. Abdominal organs extrude anteriorly through the defect and are covered by a saclike membrane consisting of amnion externally and parietal peritoneum internally. Omphalocele results from failure of the intestine to return to the body cavity after its normal herniation into the umbilical stalk during embryonic life. Omphaloceles vary in size; the defect may be a few centimeters in diameter, or most of the anterior abdominal wall may be lacking. Depending on the size of the defect, small intestine, liver, spleen, and pancreas may be in the sac. 2, record 6, English, - omphalocele

A Roux limb may be formed in multiple different gastrointestinal surgeries, including bariatric surgery, e. g. Roux-en-Y gastric bypass [and] biliopancreatic diversion... In these procedures, the small bowel is divided at some point. This leaves two components of small bowel : a proximal component connected to the stomach, pancreas, and biliary system [and] a distal component connected to the terminal ileum and colon. The end of the distal component is dragged up and connected(anastomosed) to the remnant stomach... This is the Roux limb. The navel chakra can be found between the navel and the bottom of the rib cage. The parts of the body affected are the navel, small intestine, pancreas, gall bladder, digestive system, kidney and the liver. This chakra is in charge of a person's sense of self, where your self-esteem and will power come from. It is sometimes shown as meaning fire, and has aspects of powers that let a person "burn" out the pessimistic aspects of the past and achieve the power to rule and direct your life effectively. It can also help a person learn to meditate and cleanse their spirit from negative thoughts that sometimes cause us to take actions that we later regret. This chakra is a fire element and so it is related to feelings of being thirsty or hungry, or being tired. 4, record 30, English, - navel%20chakra

5, record 30, French, - chakra%20du%20plexus%20solaire

But as we’ve grown further away from the farm, our food tastes have become more homogenized and pickier. The meat cases of sleek supermarkets reflect this: You may find a few lonely packages of liver. Brains, kidneys and other innards are seldom seen except at ethnic markets and specialty butcher shops. Most restaurant menus are likewise almost bereft of what the French call abats de boucherie, the British "offal" and Americans, somewhat euphemistically, "variety meats," which include one of the most luscious delicacies of all, sweetbreads. 6, record 38, English, - offal

With the information gained from the EMC model we began to look for other viruses that might induce diabetes in mice, particularly those viruses that also infect human beings. One likely candidate was the Coxsackie family of viruses... these viruses have RNA as their genetic material. They can cause upper-respiratory distress and muscle pain and can infect the heart and brain. Soon after the discovery of the Coxsackie viruses Gilbert Dalldorf... and A. M. Pappenheimer... found that infection of mice with members of the virus group designated Coxsackie B caused severe destruction of the acinar cells in the pancreas but spared the adjoining islet of Langerhans. 3, record 39, English, - Coxsackie%20B%20virus

1, record 39, French, - virus%20Coxsackie%20B

Insulin resistance typically develops with obesity and heralds the onset of type 2 diabetes. It is as if insulin is "knocking" on the door of muscle. The muscle hears the knock, opens up, and lets glucose in. But with insulin resistance, the muscle cannot hear the knocking of the insulin(the muscle is "resistant"). The pancreas makes more insulin, which increases insulin levels in the blood and causes a louder "knock. "Eventually, the pancreas produces far more insulin than normal and the muscles continue to be resistant to the knock. As long as one can produce enough insulin to overcome this resistance, blood glucose levels remain normal. Once the pancreas is no longer able to keep up, blood glucose starts to rise, initially after meals, eventually even in the fasting state. Type 2 diabetes is now overt. 2, record 60, English, - insulin%20resistance

The signs of IDDM are a great thirst, hunger, a need to urinate often, and loss of weight. To treat the disease, the person must inject insulin, follow a diet plan, exercise daily, and test blood glucose several times a day. IDDM usually occurs in children and adults who are under age 30. 8, record 62, English, - insulin%2Ddependent%20diabetes%20mellitus

2, record 62, French, - diab%C3%A8te%20insulino%2Dd%C3%A9pendant

Glucomannan is high in fiber, essential for cleaning the digestive system. [It] is taken from the Konnyaku root and is from the same family as the yam, which is 100 percent natural dietary fiber without calories. Since lack of fiber is a major cause for the high incidence of growing gastrointestinal disorders, it is a valuable herb. It helps reduce cholesterol, helps maintain regularity and promotes bowel health. It helps to normalize blood sugar, to relieve stress on the pancreas and to discourage blood sugar abnormalities, such as hypoglycemia. [It] absorbs toxic substances produced during digestion and elimination. It binds toxic material and eliminates them before they can be absorbed into the blood stream. [It] acts as a prevention of chronic disease and a weight control agent. As a diet aid, it expands to about 50 times its original volume when used with a large glass of water. 3, record 85, English, - glucomannan

Brite-EuRam projects in the field of biomaterials are looking at artificial complex organs, especially skin. Other areas of R&D could include creation of bioartificial liver or pancreas. At this stage, the goal is to produce a composite of biomaterial and cells. The biomaterial may act as a scaffold, such as in skin or in repair of tendons or nerves, or as a membrane and container, as for liver and pancreas. Problems arise when different cell types need to be included in the same ’bioartificial' organ, in an anatomically and biologically correct way. 1, record 87, English, - bioartificial%20organ
