Although most emissions of ambient air pollution are from local or regional sources, under certain atmospheric conditions air pollution can travel long distances across national borders over time scales of 4-6 days, thereby affecting people far away from its original source. For example, windblown dust from desert regions of Africa, Mongolia, Central Asia and China can carry large concentrations of particulate matter, fungal spores and bacteria that impact health and air quality in remote areas. 2, record 5, English, - ambient%20air%20pollution

Indoor air quality(IAQ) is one of the fundamental elements affecting people's health and well-being. Airborne pollutants such as volatile organic compounds(VOCs), particulate matter(PM), sulfur dioxide(SO2), carbon monoxide(CO), nitrous oxide(NO), polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons(PAHs), microbial spores, pollen, allergens, etc. primarily contribute to IAQ deterioration. 3, record 8, English, - indoor%20air%20quality

Particulate pollution is pollution of an environment that consists of particles suspended in some medium. There are three primary forms : atmospheric particulate matter, marine debris, and space debris. Some particles are released directly from a specific source, while others form in chemical reactions in the atmosphere. Venturi scrubbers can be used for removing gaseous pollutants; however, they are not used when removal of gaseous pollutants is the only concern. The high inlet gas velocities in a Venturi scrubber result in a very short contact time between the liquid and gas phases. This short contact time limits gas absorption. However, because Venturis have a relatively open design compared to other scrubbers, they are still very useful for simultaneous gaseous and particulate pollutant removal... 2, record 20, English, - Venturi%20scrubber

Ozone is formed in the stratosphere by the combination of O2 and atomic oxygen in the presence of a third body, usually on the surface of a particulate. The atomic oxygen results from the photolytic dissociation of oxygen. Absorption by oxygen takes place primarily in the visible and ultraviolet regions of the spectrum; the major part of the ozone absorption takes place only in the ultraviolet region. 4, record 27, English, - atomic%20oxygen

Tropospheric ozone is considered an irritant gas; it forms under the influence of sunlight especially during summer days. Several toxic precursor substances like NOx catalyse the breakdown of molecular oxygen, rendering an aggressive free radical monoatomic oxygen, which then combines with molecular oxygen to form a three-atomic and instable ozone molecule. 3, record 27, English, - atomic%20oxygen

4, record 46, French, - impact

Single Particle Analysis is a group of related computerized image processing techniques used to analyze images from transmission electron microscopy(TEM). These methods were developed to improve and extend the information obtainable from TEM images of particulate samples, typically proteins or other large biological entities such as viruses. Individual images of stained or unstained particles are very noisy, and so hard to interpret. Combining several digitized images of similar particles together gives an image with stronger and more easily interpretable features. An extension of this technique uses single particle methods to build up a three dimensional reconstruction of the particle. 1, record 50, English, - single%20particle%20analysis

Wet beneficiation systems process fines by several' types of unit operations, but usually must also incorporate costly and complex dewatering systems to reduce the moisture content of the products. Existing pneumatic preparation systems are constrained between product equality and yield by the sharpness of separation. These limitations become more severe with decreasing particle size and increasing feed moisture content. Control of particulate emissions, both process and fugitive, during pneumatic preparation, can be forbidding. A pneumatic preparation-process which would overcome these constraints, could be most enticing. Use of immobilized enzymes in an expanded or fluidized bed has certain advantages over use of immobilized enzymes in a fixed bed. The most important advantages of such operations are that plugging is totally avoided and that it is possible to use substrates containing particulate materials. In spite of these advantages, almost all industrially enzyme-catalyzed continuous processes in which immobilized enzymes are used are performed in fixed bed, among other reasons because in an expanded or fluidized bed the particles having enzymatic activity are worn down during operation as a result of collisions between the individual particles. 1, record 71, English, - fixed%20bed

Smoke Measurement ... It has been known for many years that the tar yield of any brand of cigarette does not necessarily correspond with the tar delivery of that cigarette to a human smoker. As the Fourth Report of the ISCSH observed: "These parameters have been criticised as not reflecting average human behaviour and leading to published yields universally under-estimating yields actually obtained by the average smoker. Critics of the machine smoking procedure have frequently failed to understand that values presented in tables published by DHSS have never been intended to be actual yields obtained by any one smoker. Rather, they enable brands to be ranked. 3, record 79, English, - mechanical%20smoking

2, record 87, French, - instrument%20de%20mesure%20de%20la%20qualit%C3%A9%20de%20l%27air
