Venturi scrubbers can be used for removing gaseous pollutants; however, they are not used when removal of gaseous pollutants is the only concern. The high inlet gas velocities in a Venturi scrubber result in a very short contact time between the liquid and gas phases. This short contact time limits gas absorption. However, because Venturis have a relatively open design compared to other scrubbers, they are still very useful for simultaneous gaseous and particulate pollutant removal... 2, record 3, English, - Venturi%20scrubber

In June 2000, the federal, provincial and territorial governments except Quebec signed the Canada-wide Standards for Particulate Matter(PM) and Ozone. These standards commit government to significantly reduce PM and ground-level ozone by 2010. The Canada-wide Standards for PM and Ozone are an important step towards the long-term goal of minimizing the risks of these pollutants to human health and the environment. They represent a balance between achieving the best health and environmental protection possible and the feasibility and costs of reducing the pollutant emissions that contribute to PM and ground-level ozone in ambient air. 1, record 8, English, - Canada%2Dwide%20Standards%20for%20Particulate%20Matter%20%28PM%29%20and%20Ozone

2, record 9, French, - instrument%20de%20mesure%20de%20la%20qualit%C3%A9%20de%20l%27air

The Sulfate Regional Experiment(SURE) was designed to investigate the behavior of airborne sulfur oxides and associated substances over the greater northeastern United States. The study area extended from eastern Kansas to the Atlantic seaboard and from mid-Alabama to southeastern Canada, an area of approximately 2, 400 by 1, 000 km. The study was motivated by concerns in the early 1970s that suspended sulfates impair human health when inhaled in a mixture of pollutant gases and other suspended particulate components. The primary objectives of the SURE project were : establish a regional air quality data base through measurements of several parameters at the ground and aloft with specified accuracy and precision, and evaluate the adequacy of the measurements selected for establishing the origins of the sulfur oxide particulate complex. 3, record 10, English, - Sulfate%20Regional%20Experiment
